Wheel rash advice

First, yes, I'm a dumbass. In my defense, though, this has only happened once in 28 years of driving. I took a turn a little too sharply and ran over a curb:

So, do I need I new wheel? Could I sand it and paint it? How much is a new rear wheel?

Any sympathy or advice appreciated.

Ugh.

A new rear wheel is $1150.00 and it is on a three month back order. Sorry to see this happen to you.

There are shops that will fix that kind of damage.
In my area, there is a company called Greens:
http://www.greensautomotive.com/

This place does a lot of insurance adjustment work.
If you look around, I'm sure you can find a similar shop.
Good Luck.

Thanks! I'm checking with some wheel repair shops nearby. We'll say what they say.

For the most part, curb rash is never a reason to replace a wheel. A repair facility should be able to take care of it for you.

I found a shop that will repair it for $155, which sounds reasonable to me. Beats $1150 anyway!

Yep it happened already. Wife came home and showed me her front wheel. I'm at a loss.

Thumbs up Fixed!

Hat's off to Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists . They fixed it in 30 minutes at my house, for $150. I can't tell where the damage was.
