Mass Flow Sensors Weak, Strong
What is your opinion of this? Believe it? or is there something to this. My car has some rough run when warming up, then smooth's out. there is dark carbon build up so is there something to this or is it crap? The company is APEX. I do know this is a good company.
The MAF Issue DOES NOT AFFECT V6 equipped Camaro. Not all factory Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors are created equal. If your car is equipped with one of the "weak" factory MAF sensors, it is recommended to replace your sensor with a GM replacement meter so your fuel trims will be accurate and your car will not hesitate when it counts. Look for the code on the side of the sensor (you must remove the sensor to see this). If your meter has a single letter in this location then you have one of the "weak" meters. |

IMO they have nothing to do with black tips and running rough when cold. The tunes on the SS are rich for safety (normal) and the engines are cold hearted until warmed up (normal). The weak MAF only came into play when used with certain cold air intakes.

This. GM uses two suppliers for MAF sensors. Both produce MAF sensors that are within factory specs. One of them, however, does not keep up once additional air flow is introduced. This can lead to bucking, surging, sluggish acceleration, etc.. They are not a stand alone performance upgrade. But if you need one, they absolutely do make a difference.
