what confuses me about the z\28 is the weight. only 300 pounds less than the zl1 with all that weight reduction, and it doesn't even have the heavier rear diff and shafts? sounds like it should be 300 pounds less than an ss...
Brakes are heavier but wheels lighter, so its a draw here.. But the lighter glass, less option and some weight stripped out should be a good 100lbs off..

Advantage Z/28 - weight / aerodynamics / coil-over suspension / R-Spec tread.

Street/Strip ford owns......track --> chevy owns. Went to the dragstrip tuesday night my friend's 13 automatic 5.0 premium with a tune from aed, cai and axleback running 11.2 on the stock pirelli's. I didn't see any Camaro ss's that night running anything even remotely close to that and some had cams and whatever else. Next mustang will be very interesting for sure. That new Z28 is going to be a beast on the track plus it's damn good looking!

Okay have to ask... Do you really have an original GNX, meaning not a Grand National turned into a GNX look alike?

Or...put a 5.0 in a G37????? WHAT??!! DID I JUST BLOW YOUR MIND??!?!?!

But seriously...yeah, Ford needs to lay off the marketing the horsepower and stop milking a 15 year old platform. I'm tired of submitting to internet argument about road course times. That's right...can't even argue that stuff on the internet.

Reminds me of an appropriate joke I once heard. It involves comparing the difference between a person who tends to have a perpetual sunburn between their back and head & their possession of a chevy small block to a mentally handicapped individual taking a popular medication (sold by pfizer) for men which improves blood-flow to a particular area of their anatomy. The punch line was "Nothing, they'll stick it in anything"

I'll let the rest of you figure out the concise version for yourselves.

I forgot he also has a Boss 302 intake (good for 7500 rpms and 25+ hp)....He ran a 11.2, not 12.2 ..I was shocked.

I have an original GNX # 245 but I'm thinking about selling it for something newer. It's not my daily driver of course and I bought in 1996.

Chevy says Z/28 is three seconds faster around a track...

I'm betting the ZL1 might have the lead in a drag race...

ZL1 will be more comfortable to drive on the road, but the Z/28 will feel more direct...

My .02...

That's awesome! That thing command someone with DEEP pockets should you decide to sell it.

Sorry, back on topic...

ZL1 will win in the drag race because the Z28 won't have upgraded axles/center section and will be prone to snapping at the line if launched hard enough. LS7 TQ + Gear + Sticky Tires + OE Axles = Boom

GM has already stated the other track information about which Z will win in twisties.

But they didn't say it'd explode at a drag strip....

They'll build it to last, and they're well aware people will take it to the strip.
