When my said it to me I said A mid life crisis is trading you in for someone half your age not buying a camaro. Kind of tired of people saying it.

Had someone say it to me less than hour ago. My response was I bet its faster than your corolla... no response.

Now that iam 40'ish I can afford to drop 42K on a toy.

I was too young to buy a Camaro when they first came out, and I really loved those models.

Well, I've worked my tail off the past 20 years, and I'm also goal oriented. My everyday car is great, but I wanted something special to reward myself with.

So, I've been saying for the past 3 years after I had heart surgery, "Life is short, so live it to its fulliest everyday. You never know when your time is up."

Yeah I've heard the "mid-life crisis" thing too. I tell everyone that I have already been there and done that. The car is just replacing the one I had 13 years ago.

Ok so I'm 41 and just ordered mine. Nobody has said anything about the MLC to me, YET. I'm waiting for it though. Although I don't consider this to be about being middle aged. I have owned 2 Camaro's before and loved them. I used to call the IROC my grocery getter when the kids were little. Now the oldest 2 have moved out and the last is on her way to college next month, so I guess the time is right.

Same here. 46 and everyone tells me it's a mid life crisis. I have owned 2 Camaro's then had kids and needed room. Kids grown up now so I am ready for my Camaro. Waiting in the allocation line for my 2SS.

Now 42. I've heard it a bunch of times.

Heard it this weekend from two friends (the same age) both of whose wives have had boob jobs in the last year. So, you know, consider the source.

The only difference is I don't get a test drive ;-]

I guess I'm loving the mid-life crisis. Funny story about the day we got the RJT SSRS: My wife and I, both 43 kids now both off to college. Went to see the Camaro in RJT at a local dealer after being told about the original purchaser cancelled the order. My wife said I was having the "mid life crisis" and thought the Camaro idea was crazy. She agrees to go look the day before Father's Day and 2 days before her birthday and was dead set against getting rid of her Altima. Camaro is in the showroom, we walk in and she says "that is a beautiful car and I love the color". Yes! Then she says she wouldn't think of buying a car w/o a test drive. Sales lady comes over and says " If you want to take it for a spin we take it out of the showroom, just try to not put more than 20 miles on it" I'm thinking how can this get any better? " Honey would you like to drive 1st? " We go on the "drive" and get back and work the deal. On the way home my wife says " What's next tattoos? "

To top it off we get home the kids are there waiting to see the Camaro, go for a spin, leaving all the paperwork (registration,etc..) in the house. Deputy sheriff is on my tail, boy I'm nervous and the traffic light goes yellow, can't stop in time, lights come on to pull over and I'm like here goes the insurance rate. Pull over and he says " Don't worry I ran the plates and saw you just picked it up today, haven't seen one, That thing is sweeeet!" Gotta love the mid-life crisis!

Sorry about the size (width) of this post! How do I edit the size?

When they ask me if I'm in a mid-life crisis, I just say YES I am. And then I usually ask them if they know any cute 25 year old chicks who are available. Of course only if my wife is not around.

Tell them that a "mid life crisis" is when you start driving an econobox so that you can save more money for your retirement.....
That probably describes a majority of the people who would make such a statement.

I really don't care what anybody calls it. I'm 56 have worked hard, raised a couple of daughters have been married for 28 years and the house is paid off. I deserve this as I gave up cars when I got married bought the house and had kids. I have always appreciated nice sports cars and now I will appreciate the one thats coming my way. Mid life crisis my foot!
