My new "budget" headers came in! PICS!

Well, I'm not gonna mention names here because they're not a sponsor. However, I know people were looking for pics of these "budget" priced headers. They seem well built and are 304SS with 3/8" flange and came with off-road connection pipes, gaskets, band clamps and bolts ($40 for the O2 extensions). I may upgrade them to the stepped wide style band clamps; that's a personal preference.

my only gripe about them is the rough texture of the flange face, not sure how well it'll seal with MLS gaskets. I may use some high temp silicone on the gasket and/or try out the gaskets that came with them, they seem softer.

Please don't make this thread a "you get what you pay for" argument like every other "budget" header thread. Frankly, I know what I paid for it and am I'm ready for any shortcomings as a result of it. If it cracks, I'll fire up my welder. If it doesn't, I guess I'm up on the deal, right?

Sorry, no power spike here...

3/8" flange thickness...

What do you think about the weight of them? Curious what they are compared to stock pieces and some of the other brands.

Well the box weighs 32lbs. and there's not much weight in the packing material. Wall thickness is 0.050"; was finally able to use my dial calipers! haha

Those look like an exact copy / ripoff of TSP's headers for the 5th gen.

None the less, great headers for the money.

Those do look like the TSP headers, except the TSP ones have a higher quality look. How much were those?

I was happy with using OEM (new) gaskets and reused the stock bolts, something to consider before installing the cheaper gaskets.

Had 3" collectors to 4" Mufflex system with Spintec muffler on my built t/a ... was a bit too loud for neighborhood before, I'd hate to have to throw on mufflers again, lol

I thought your name matched an LS1tech name. I was MeanGreen97Z on CamaroZ28 and BlackLT1Z on LS1tech. New name for each car. lol

What will happen in the next 6 months.....the welds look average .I'm not sure about the grade of stainless.

I'd assume they get the same interesting features that any headers would in MD. The road treatment will do the same to any metal. No worries there. I'd just chalk it up to the elements at that point.

Welcome to the club! The He-man expensive headers haters club.
Sometimes, when the price gets too low, you do run the risk of 'you get what you pay for' syndrome. But there a lot of us budget header folks with many miles/years of '0' issues. Those will most likely outlive your car. So bolt em up (Id suggest the factory gaskets), tune it up and enjoy!
