Stopped by a couple dealerships today....GOOD DEALS to be had out there

I stopped by my local Chevy dealer today to see if there was any new news on the Camaro. I make this stop about once a month and have built a friendly relationship with the sales manager. Nothing new....

BUT

This dealer, as odd as this is to me, also owns a Ford dealership which is right across the street. So I walked over just to look around. I went straight to the 2009 Mustangs and was shocked at how much they're discounted. A fully loaded top of the line GT Premium with every bell and whistle including the glass roof and chromed aluminum 18s was $30,100 final price. Take off the glass roof and chrome wheels and it was $27,200.

WOW. That's about $5K off sticker and these are 2009 models.

They also had a Shelby GT500. I sat in it and it's very nice. The interior is much nicer than I remember Ford's being. I haven't even sat in a Ford in years. The interior was MUCH nicer than that of my 4Runner, down to the way the plastic felt. This gives me good hope for that of the Camaro's interior quality.

Unfortunately, no GT500 test drives are allowed :( try as I might. They were also not discounting that car, it's sticker was $47K and change.

I've also been waiting to test drive the GT500. The problem with the GT500 is the price. It's like 20k more than a GT. If I could buy one for invoice, I'd think about it, but even then, not worth the money. I've had 2 GT's. I bought an 06 and paid 26200, and an 07 for 26,000. Both loaded. It's tough to beat the bang for the buck. However, I think the 2010 is gonna have a price jump. My SS on order came in at about 36k. Yean there is a lot of car there, but 10 grand is a lot of money.

Actually, no. Pricing on the 2010 is already out there and it has no increase from the 2009 MY.

There's a Dodge dealer in Lawrence with a Challenger RT on the lot begging for a test drive. It's been marked down as well.

Drove by a Ford dealer today to look at trucks with employee pricing. Saw a sweet Bullitt Stang for $30,250.

Aye this goes in the other cars. I was like whuttt?

So what it's a Ford and the Mustang is dated and boring.

Snore...

The only good Stangs are the 65-72 after that they are boooring..

I’d expect the Mustang to be discounted. Bad economy, last year before a significant refresh is not going to lead up to sales. Also we are going into winter so the northern half of the U.S. isn’t really looking for a RWD car right now. Not to mention there is completion from the challenger and soon from the Camaro. Also add in they may all be out of business in 2 months and that isn’t a recipe for car buying happiness.
