Keeping black stripes black

If you use any wax around decals it's easy to get wax on the decal. I use a product from Mothers called "Back To Black." I actually use it on the entire decal. It makes it blacker and hides any wax trace.

IMO, you'd do better to put some wax/polish on the stripes.

I use 'Back to Black' when requsted for exterior trim piece's, and it seem's to wash away after the first rain shower.

Have you decided on a wax yet? Most of today's wax's won't leave the white residue.

If you're looking for a product which you can buy in an automotive store, I'd recommend either Meguire's, or Mother's.

When you finally do wax your car, just take your time. Especially around the stripes. If you take your time, and slowly apply the wax along the edges, careful not to cross over them, you'll be just fine.

If you do happen to get some residue along the edge's, I'd suggest you have some detailing spray with you, which you can use to safely remove any residue.

I have used Eagle One Nanowax on my Vette and loved it so I think I'm gonna give that a whirl this weekend. I am getting CGM stripes. So you are saying to go parallel to the stripes not perpendicular and that should prevent residue?

I use Zaino polishes, so I can recommend to you what they recommend;

I would apply the wax, parallel to the stripes.

Zaino recommends using a "front to back" (hood, roof, trunk), "top to bottom" (sides) method for applying/removing their polish (has to do with light refraction).

So, if I were doing your car, I'd follow this method.

Hope that helped?

Ed

You'll be fine.

Take your time. And like I said, have some "detailing spray" handy if you need to remove any residue from the edges.

I'll be looking for the pics.!
