My local Chevrolet Dealer (Robert Chevrolet in Hicksville, NY) is a bunch of theives. Their Service Department is a joke. They still operate out of their original building built in the late 1950's, and the waiting room has about 6 seats.
You will never get what seems like a fair price for your trade in. Always better to sell privately

New 2010 still on the lot

Found a dealer selling a brand new 2010 2SS with 5 miles on it for 32,895. Seems decent for an asking price I would think. Im kinda surprised this thing hasnt moved. Sound good?

Jeff Schmitt chevy in Dayton, OH wouldn't sell me a Camaro without $1,700 in crap. Mandatory undercoating, paint sealer, rust proofing, VIN glass etching, and interior stain protection. What a load of crap. Walked out and went elsewhere. I'll post it up in the under MSRP dealer thread.

Yea without that undercoat protectiong the under carriage falls out in 6 months..
without painter sealer after 12 car washes the the paint will peel right off..

I tried explaining to them I don't want to replace sway bars and other parts that have been covered in slime. They said if you want it to last 10 years I needed it done. I guess there's enough idiots out there that it works on a few. I sent the manager an awesome email with a pic of me in my new Camaro today.

My local dealership couldn't get the color I wanted at the time I was ready, but were willing to put me in a different color slightly under MSRP. Only problem was it was an auto and I wanted stick. Found another dealer with the exact car I wanted, color, options, etc. Went to talk with them and it was the same crap about "Well we just sold one last week for 5k over MSRP, and you can't order them right now anyway, so this is a good deal." Took me saying no four different times and starting to walk out, but I got them down to MSRP in the end. The finance lady told me as I was signing papers that she was impressed, as most people they'd had in there just went ahead and paid the additional 3-5k, depending on model and options. Just goes to show, don't be too eager and you'll get what you're looking for. I wish I could've done it through my local dealer, as I've bought my two previous Silverados there and they always do right, especially the service.

That's the awesomest e-mail!

If you were honest and had done a good job, this sale COULD HAVE been yours!!

Always walk away if they don't treat you right or don't know what the he** they're doing - or both!!

i got mine about a month ago. it is the 2ss/rs and i had to drive to another town to get it. the local lithia dealership wanted 38k for a 1ss with 13k and it was an auto. i told them that that was way to much but he said they took it in on trade for 36k and i was getting a hell of a deal. i told them i would think about it and i called karl tyler chevy that is a two hour drive out of town.i got my trade ready and they gave me more for it than i wanted to get out of the damn thing. he sent pics and had everything in line before i had to drive over. the 2ss/rs cost me 30k and had only 2k in miles. they showed me what they took it on in trade(actual documents) then they payed for window tint and the registration plus the gas for the whole trip. the salesman was so great we went and got the girlfriend a new car too a week later from him.i love karl tyler chevy in missoula montana they did great! F U Lithia stores!!!!!

I ordered my car in Oct 09'. 38k sticker 2SS/RS manual with Sunroof and walked out about 40K with tax, 6-60k miles ext bumper to bumper warranty and all. Even added Badges on the side with this. Pete Moore Chevrolet in Pensacola, FL. But I had a buddy of mine say his friend got the same car brand new for 35K. I guess it all depends on who you know and that time of the month for the salesman.

I am stationed in Pensacola. Went to Pete Moore Chevy with a cashiers check IN HAND for 36.6K. I wanted a Summit White on Black 1SS/RS, They wouldnt sell and they had what I wanted on the lot. They wouldnt take anything less than 42k. Their new car sales staff totally sucks. This was back in Jan 2010. Went to the next town, in Milton, FL and that dealer FOUND me what I wanted... it was 140 miles away, they had my new SS delivered and dropped it off to me at work after prep. Moreover, I didnt like the lick and stick stripes and they removed them for free. Back then I got the car for 32k, with Florida's 7% state sales tax, and other minor fees for registration, out the door for 36k.

ON THE OTHER HAND, although Pete Moore's new car sales staff are total gougers, their service department is top notch. More often than not they half my labor charges for no other reason than I am a frequent customer. Loyalty does have its rewards.

When I was in the market for a 2010 2SS/RS in 2009, Curry tried to charge me $5,000 over MSRP. I replied with "Do I look like a schmuck" and the salesman said, "Well, what do you think is a fair price"? I said $1,500 below MSRP and he said "no way", so I walked out. I didn't buy a Camaro until the market cooled off in early 2010 and found a good deal. I wound up paying a little over dealer invoice for my Camaro.
