I believe he means thick sidewalls and 245 as opposed to the 275 rears on the SS.

Im up here in NYC and have had a Camaro RS for the past 3 Winters. I certainly try to avoid driving in the snow if possible but theres been a few times where i had to get home from work with a few inches on the ground. It isn't fun but with the right wheels and knowing what your doing its possible. You have to accept the fact that your going to be spinning you tires most of the way, you just have to be able to control the car. AVOID HILLS AT ALL COSTS. When you absolutly have to go up a hill that isnt too steep, you want to give yourself enough space so you dont have to stop on the hill because getting going on the hill is going to be ruff. The main thing is the tires tho. I had the Pirelli summers my first winter which are also very wide and low tread. This is terrible for snow and ice. I bought the OEM 18's for the winter and it made a huge difference. Good Luck!

I think the same thing all the time. People act like driving a Camaro in the winter is impossible or extremely dangerous because it's rear wheel drive. When my parents generation were starting to drive there were no front wheel drive cars and nobody owned 4x4s, but people seemed to manage. They didn't even have traction control, stability control, antilock brakes, etc. When did people stop being able to drive in the winter without "proper" vehicles??

I wasn't going to post in this antique thread, but it looks like it's officially been resurrected.

I have an upgraded SS, never lost control nor got stuck in the snow or on the ice in North Dakota. That's on snow tires and summer tires.

I too live in NJ and in a area where they tend to forget to plow, went right through, of coarse you can't drive the car as you would in the summer.
As for Mustangs ? LOL

Nice looking car ihc95

Schnee is now 23 years old, your welcome is slightly belated . This thread is now almost half as old as he was when he authored it.
