Another CAI question
Ok, so i'm researching CAI systems. From what I can see, the popular short tube systems are: Injen, K&N, CAI, Volant, Airaid and Roto-Fab. The long tube systems are Injen and AEM. And then you have Vararam. I'm sure I missed a few.
My questions are: 1) Is it fair to say that all the short tube systems are somewhat equal in quality and performance? What are your opinions, pros/cons? 2) What are the advantages/disadvantages of the long tube systems vs. short tube? 3) Vararam is a completely different design. I see many people have great things to say. What about this catch bottle business... does this apply to all CAI systems or just the Vararam? Thanks. |

#2 answer- Injen long tube is a true cold air intake. All others are located under hood but guys running Vararams I know love them on the V6.

I've noticed that everyone says they notice the difference with any of these systems. Will the long tube (true CAI) systems provide the better results?

It has been without a doubt won of my best mods in noticing the gains instantly, not to mention the sound difference! Injen will take a little more time to install, I think when I did mine on a Saturday afternoon taking my time it took 2 hours, but was not diffacult by any means. Other CAI my only take a few minutes.

Love my K&N. Hard to say how much gains it makes but it definitely increases air flow and looks sweet! I ordered the K&N because they have an old school look and are a long time reputable company.Plus I'm not a fan of the under glass look seems a little tacky.

I've got the Injen CAI. It took me about 45 mins to pop in and made my exhaust have more of a rumble. The power increase off the line is great to. I live in Florida and it rains on a regular basis and I havent had any problems, but I do have a hydro shield over the filter just in case.

If you go K&N, get the more expensive one. I believe it's called the typhoon. I had the other and kept getting a CEL. A K&N rep told me that they were aware of the problem...still selling them though. I got my money back and got Vararam.
