Just accept the obvious and realize the ZL1 is the leader of the pony car pack.

I cant wait until the lighter weight 6th Gen Camaro comes out in 2015. I have a feeling Ford will be back pedalling then for sure. Chevrolet has advantage when it comes to tech and racing knowledge over Ford with the Vette. The magnetic ride suspension is better than anything Ford can do its just a shame the current Camaro is sooo heavy. Ferarri is even borrowing it to use on their cars from GM. Its going to be interesting to see if Ford can catch up in terms to performance when they lose their weight advantage they have been leaning on we will see. Also the new SRT Barracuda will be taking a BIG slice of the Muscle/pony car market share next gen I bet since one hasnt been around for such a long time plus it will be lighter as well and probably designed the right way. I have a feeling Ford will be in trouble next gen no weight advantage plus no design advantage equals a potential failure for Ford. Plus the new Barracuda will have Alpha Romeo parts rumored too. Plus with the Mustang being brought out first it will look old probably by the time the SRT & 6th Gen Camaro arrive and will get lost in the shuffle unless designed edgy enough.

$61,485 with track pack. ouch. $3k for the stinking track pack.

price wise it is kind of a wash. for the extra 5k you could easily add 70hp hp to a ZL-1.

those payments are based on 60 months. even a ZL-1 would be grip per month at 60 months.

Yeah it seems like in order to get the new GT500 to perform on par with the ZL1 around a track you will have to pay a higher price than you would with the ZL1 when it comes to the track at least.

It will be interesting to see if it is faster though. I mean if that price actually laps better then I think the price is justified.

It is way easier to make a car go fast in a strait line than turn well IMO.

People shouldn't get into cars they can't REALLY afford, if you are financing the whole thing you may want to look at otyher cars and priorities.

Assuming of course that Ford is completely asleep and doesn't do anything to improve their car prior to a new Camaro. I'm betting they will keep on tweaking. I haven't been through the build sites of either car but in my opinion if you option up "the car that shall not be named" with nav, glass roof etc then it's probably going to be strictly a waxer car. Being realistic about it, most of the ZL1's are going to be low mileage highly waxed cars that will never see a track. No different than the current crop of 5th gens that are already in the hands of the consumer. How many SS drivers on here do you know that have already modded their SS past the price of either a ZL1 or "the car that shall not be named" and have never seen a track? Never seen a cloud much less a rain drop? Start threads because they have a stone chip? I'm looking forward to Camarofest. Drags and Autocross. Anyone showing up with a "car that shall not be named" will be ready to rumble. The question is, will the ZL1 owners put their cars to the challenge. I for one hope they do and look forward to seeing the competition done by real world owners and drivers instead of magazines and Internet speculation.
