Halo Lights & Driving Lights

I talked to my salesperson yesterday about the Halo HID lights. I was asking if there was a way to change out the regular headlights with the halo lights. I didn't order the RS package since I'm not willing to pay $1200 just for the halo lights. I already ordered the 20" polished wheels. He said he would have to check into it after they could actually see the Camaro. He also said that he had recently been to a class on the Camaro. He said that anyone who ordered the RS package would not have a switch to turn on/off their driving lights. He said they were on all the time when your Halo HID lights were off and off when your Halo HID lights were on. If you don't have the RS package he said there is a switch to turn on/off the driving lights. He said the guy giving the class seemed to know that there was going to be a problem with some people on this item (taking away a switch to people that pay $1200 more for the RS package). Has anyone else heard anything on this topic?

While this is true as the fog lights are the DRL's, there is a switch to turn on the fog lights at night so you can have both the HID's and fogs on at the same time.

I've not seen any newer model car that had DRL's that allowed you to turn them off.

The switch difference is the fog lamp button is not included in the RS since there are no fog lamps. On the RS they are replaced by the DRLs.

I believe you will find it fairly difficult to just swap lamps there is more to it.

There have been other threads on this, though I'm not sure what the concensus was.

My '07 grand prix allowed me to turn off DRLs by rotating the headlight knob on the stick backwards... may have a similiar feature on camaro, not sure though.

Oh man that's crap

Although with as bright as the HID's are, we may never need them.

Running standard halogen bulb foglamps with your HID's on looks goofy, fog lights are a cosmetic add for the most part anyway. I think you can defeat DRL's on the Corvette which means there is a pretty good chance you can do it on the Camaro.

I know there is more to the RS package, but I don't care for the dark wheels (since I ordered the 20" polished) and don't care for the darkened tail lights or body colored roof ditch mouldings. So, for my purposes, I would be purchasing the RS package just to get the Halo lights. That's why I was asking the dealer if they could change out the original & put in the Halos. They have to be the same size, right? The rest would be just getting the wiring to match up.

I would be interested in changing mine too....I was in the same boat...ordered the polished rims and didn't want to pay 1200 just for the lights.....

From what I understand, they can be swapped out! I have ordered the Halo Lights separate from the car order along with the ground effects, hocky stripes and the body color engine cover. Thinking of doing the darker tail lights later!

It would be a royal pain. The C4 V retrofit with a group buy was like $1000 bucks.

Just saying your talking about at leat 1-2000 bucks worth of parts and then the labor. Unless your a mechanic it's about 500 bucks or more worth of labor.

If you want them order them for your car. Otherwise you'll just have to wait a while to see if aftermarket kits come out.

With all the extras on the rs pkg, it is well worth the 1200.00
