'69 Parts Expensive?
Are 1969 Camaro parts any more or less expensive than any other year of Camaro? I was told that they are more expensive because the '69 model is one of the most, if not THE most sought after year, how much of this is true?

They're all expensive. But the 69 has the advantage of being popular enough that you can buy just about anything for it in aftermarket rather than scrounge swap meets for a piece of trim or other missing part.

I had a 69 about 10 years ago. It is like any other muscle car. They made a lot of them. There are alot of aftermarket companies that make repo parts. The expensive parts are the ones that there was just a few of. Like if you want to find a 350 or even a 396 engine, thats not that hard and they are the same price as any other chevy 350 or 396. but try to find the 302 in the 69 Z and good luck and hope you have lots of money.
NOS parts are the most expensive. then the list goes down from there to original die parts to china parts. You will really lose your mind when you try to find some rare steering wheel or some shit that was only on some of the cars. Good Luck, Bill Baranowski |

I won't be going for NOS parts just yet. I'm aiming to look for a car for my first project car. Right now I'm focusing on getting money to actually get a car and piece it together, but I figured researching about what it takes would be a good idea. My goal is to get a car together by my Senior Prom.

If you are OK with aftermarket parts, it wont be too bad. Genuine GM parts will cost you an arm and a leg.

Agreed. I have owned a 1969 Camaro for about 7 years now and I am slowing restoring/moding the car to be what I want it to be. I have found that aftermarket parts are easy to find but they aren't overly cheap. Way cheaper than NOS, but they are still spendy. But, since the '69 is so popular you can find basically everything aftermarket.

A little off topic, but would parts for older cars be more expensive if the car was an import? For example, would parts be more expensive for an old 911 for example, compared with an older American car?

Parts are cheap. When you move up the ladder, to Vettes & Vipers then you start to choke on prices.
