Noob Header/Exhaust Question

If I get a Flowmaster American Thunder Axle back set up, and then want to add headers down the line. Will that exhaust be compatible? Or will it have to be removed at that point?

The axle back will work fine, axle back means you'll be leaving everything up to the cats stock. So you will need to make sure the headers you get will bolt up to your stock cat back system which is 2.5".

The 1-7/8" is only describing the diameter of the primary tubes on the header. The header outlet diameter for Kooks is either 2.5" or 3". You only need to match up a long tube header's outlet with the cat's inlet which if stock is 2.5". Either way the axle back has nothing to do with header install.

When you buy headers, just make sure you are buying 'factory' connection so it bolts right up to your factory midpipe(between cats and axle-back).

If you go kooks be sure to get the part number 6511-OEMC that'll bolt up to you factory exhaust, meaning the cats will be 3" on the inlet side and necking down to 2.5 to the outlet side leading to the flows..

Sent from the side view mirror.. While watching a ruststang fall back.. Ultimately just giving up

Everything will connect just as it does now as long as you go with a factory style connection. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to help you further.

I would love to see a dyno chart that you lost 30 whp from installing flow-master axel backs when that adds no power just a nice rumble and some drone....
