To be honest, they may only be sealing cracks on the road, I assumed the road would be re-slurried, because it SURE would be NICE if it was...just for us!

There should be time between 09:00 am - 09:30 am to check out the road on foot from the Visitor Center (assuming THAT is not closed Saturday morning). If there is any question about the surface, we can certainly do what Scott suggests, taking I-5 south 1 exit down to totally avoid the road work (that should wrap up today, Friday), then jumping onto PCH from Sea World Drive...

FYI...whichever way we go to get onto PCH on the east side of Sea World Drive opposite Fiesta Island, if we do not all make it thru the light, do NOT pull over immediately east of the traffic light on PCH...the road immediately narrows to a 1-lane bridge(s), and we don't want to bottleneck there...instead, after crossing the bridge(s) and before approaching the Old Town area, there is plenty of space on the right to pull over (there is a CHP station first, then a long stretch of diagonal parking spaces - though, on Thursday morn, many were taken up by old RVs).

Do not turn onto Fiesta Island, if you do, you have two choices, 1) make a U-turn on a dirt / sandy parking lot, or 2) travel the one-way road on Fiesta Island, which eats up a good 6 minutes (15 MPH limit...joggers, bikers, dogs, etc.)...

Sweet...

Looks like it is going to be a GREAT turnout! DocHolliday (Matt) is going to join us as well...for all (of us) civilians out there, bring something - anything - that makes you "look military" (hat, Miramar Air Show t-shirt, camoflague shorts, etc.) so we can use all the red Military Free tixs (actually, the tixs do not say "ID required", just that "Chevy Dealers (and car owners?) salute our Military"...f--- yeah!

I am not sure how many from south of downtown are meeting at the Starbucks (southern route start was at a Starbucks, but not at Sassafras)...if no one is there by 09:30 am, you can head to the County Administration Building's north parking lot (accessed the best by PCH southbound lanes, entrance is just south of Grape)...those leaving from the SD Visitor Center on E. Mission Bay Drive should be at the Admin parking lot around 09:45 - 09:50am, traffic and fog permitting...see you there!!!!

Here are the two "authorized" cruise routes, meet at 9:00 am and leave for Downtown at 09:30 am:

From NORTH / EAST:
1. Mission Bay -> SD Convention Center Cruise (20 minutes)

From SOUTH:
2. Starbucks @28th Street & I-5 -> Convention Center Cruise (17 minutes)

Mike,

Thanks for the ticket and it was good meeting everyone. Was a little disappointed with the Chevy area. Was hoping to see a ZL-1 but instead we got a stuff we could drive to the lot to see. Really liked the GS Vette though.
