Do I need to warm up the Engine before i drive off ..say in the morning or after few hours and if yes then for how long? I got V8 L99..I heard that nowadays with newer cars you dont have to be just drive slow but is that true?

its always a good idea. My ls3 bucks until it warms up. never drive it hard until its been at operating temp for a while.

Warming up a modern fuel injected car isn't really necessary. However, you should drive the car easy until the coolant is at full operating temperature and oil temp is warm.
Just a personal preference....I also let my cars idle for about 2-3 minutes on first start of the day to get the power steering fluid moving.

If its very cold outside I would give more warm up time just to get the oil circulated. I usually hit auto start 5 min before driving off at any temp.

I start it and drive no matter the temp. If it's cold I'll drive slow, and I only get on it when the oil temp is off the peg.

I don't take off until coolant hits 100 degrees and I don't drive hard the first few mins/miles. I used to let it run longer, but somebody told me that your cats get clogged (not sure if this is the right term)

It's a waste of time to let these engines warm up. Just drive easy for a few until the oil temp comes up. Only modern car you need to let warm up before you drive is a RX8.

Cold engine start, I crank her up and let the oil circulate for 30-60 seconds. Then I drive it easy for the first few miles until the engine temp gets close to "normal".

The reason the cars buck when cold is because the sensors on many parts of the car do not start talking to each other correct till a certain temp is reached.

I let it run for about 2-3 minutes and then do not get on it till oil temp between first two left hash marks.

I know if I don't warm my L99 up it shifts into each gear very hard. I remote start my car every day even if it isn't really cold out now a days.

i make sure i see the temp raise a little before driving off. If it's super cold out i wait until i see a good amount of heat being produced and the oil pressure lowers (it sits high when you first start because it's thicker increasing pressure). I don't need to blow a rod or piston because i was too impatient rushing to get milk or go to work.
