guys . . .
original post comes from Sauid Arabia. on the other side of the pond, octane ratings are different, I believe. We use one formula, and they use another. One's called RON, and another is called motor octane number, or some such. They are calculated differently. Be sure you are talking apples and apples, not dates and figs, to use a middle east analogy. also - - - in some parts of the US, they use ethanol to boost the octane number. but ethanol has less power than pure gasoline. octane is only a measure of knock resistance, not power. using a higher octane rated gasoline = more knock resistance = higher compression = higher power. but, if you use ethanol to raise the octane rating, and ethanol has less power . . . you get the idea. maybe the gas in Oklahoma doesn't add ethanol. once again, be sure we are comparing apples and apples. think that's how it works. I'm not an engineer, so I may not be totally accurate. but I think that I have the general idea. I welcome corrections, comments, from those with more knowledge on the topic. |

i love Sunoco gas...just looked up online that they have multiple sunoco gas stations that are fairly close to me that have 95...i guess every once in a while it be good to run some higher octane to clean her out

You could always fill halfway with 91 and the other half with 95 - then shake well and your average octane will be 93!!

Use the 95, especially with your high ambient temperatures.

The hotter your iats and engine operating temps, the more likely you are to see knock. Higher octane prevents knock.
