IIRC... these are basically ABS plastic where they contact the valve stem threads. My ZL1 came with both polymer grey colored valve caps (installed) & a set of metal caps. I was going: what's that rattle coming from the glove box & there they were in all their glory.

OK, so I'm watching MOTORWEEK & here's Pat Goss going on about METAL tire valve stem caps & tire pressure sensors in the wheels. According to him (just where does he get those KOOL shirts, anyway? ), they chemically bond & cause corrosion inside the sensor, ruining it. Modules are expensive to replace. SO... are metal caps (like the ones in the glovebox) bad juju or is this some kind of urban legend?

I'd think that Al Op's guys know the straight skinny... just wondering what the consensus is.

I've heard the same thing, probably from your same source!

I can say that I bought the same caps for my SS and the don't fit as nicely at the factory. They were too shallow and half the thread was showing. I still have them in a box. They were on for less than 5 minutes. I hope these work out better for you.

These worked great. They are deeper than the stock metal caps I had and on the black rims really look sweet. Oh well, just thought I would share since they are not expensive and add a nice touch.

Had a few PM's asking where I got these. www.chevymall.com Enjoy and Merry Christmas to everyone out there. Be safe.

BTW, they are machined aluminum with chrome plating. There does not appear to be any plastic in the thread area. I was very pleased with the quality.
