Do you think the F-body associations will accept us zeta platformers? It's still a Camaro, but it's not an F-body anymore.
I'd have to see them next to each other, but I think the new Camaro would just look really out of place among 3rd and 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds (not so much the 1st and 2nd gens, since that's what the design is based on). |

I would NEVER feel out of place. After all, it IS the Camaro. I don't think it's an Fbody situation. I think it's a Camaro situation.
Would it be accepted? Yes. We had a group of 80-100 members at the Dallas auto show. There were tons of 1st to 4th Gens there and everyone got pretty excited when John started talking about bringing the Camaro production car to the October 08 show. Just about everyone loves this 5th Gen. It might not be an Fbody per say....but it is a Camaro. I don't think it would look out of place at all. |

Why would it look anymore out of place with another generation than any other previous generation has? |

I'm sure 5th gens will be accepted. I feel kinda bad for any charger communities.

Yeah, when you look at it every generation of the Camaro has looked radically different than the rest. The 5th gen is the only one really that reflects back on an earlier generation. I should hope that the F-body community embraces the new Camaro. Sure there will be some narrow-minded people who will insist that if it isn't strictly and officially an "F-body" then it doesn't count, but they are simple wrong, and probably a little jealous too.

That is a good point because Impala enthusiasts dont like my 05 impala SS. Mainly because its front wheel drive but it can still beat every other impala.

I gotta admit, while a FWD Impala SS just doesn't seem right at first, these new ones sure are something to drive. They seem to manage torque steer reasonably well considering a 300hp V8 is tugging on the front wheels, and it handles remarkably well, though still a bit handicapped by its layout.

Sure we would, it's a tribute to the classic Camaro so I doubt there would be any issues.
It's funny though, RX-7 folks where a little funny around us RX-8's but I think it's just that they wanted the RX8 to be what the RX7 was and simply the RX-8 (hence the name) is NOT a RX7 which was and is a great car in itself. Side note, you know I love the movie Transformers since I grew up watching them as a kid but part of the movie appeal is getting to watch that BEAST hum around throughout the movie.
