Interesting to hear your feedback on the kit. Seems other customers are having some heat management issues with the kit. Not engine temps but things melting despite ceramic coating/heat wrapping etc.

If some other things can be figured out this kit is what I have my eye on after my Maggie setup and the pursuit of 1000+whp

Could be to low of timing causing high EGT.

There is a lot in the tune to control EGT.

Couldnt get specific, car made 1080whp and runs on e85 with meth. I know they are adding a vented hood as well.

The highest EGT occur during light throttle cruise not WOT.

We often see glowing headers on the dyno when doing Light throttle tuning.

Speaking of lag. I have a similar set up.

I did a roll race event last week where you get up to a steady ~30 mph and pin it when you pass the cones. I put it in 2nd gear and was able to do a rolling brake boost and was able to get to 8psi at a steady 30mph. It was leaving very hard when I released the brakes and put it the rest of the way to the floor. Lag was not an issue at this event.

This car has no lag it blisters through the boost gauge in an instant with the 8 speed auto.

I can tell you that “instant” you speak of is enough to put me 1-2 cars behind a 1000hp Whipple hellcat right from the go. without some brake boosting there is lag, all turbos have lag.

I know you are running quite a bit larger turbos than I have in my car and I know the Hellion kit has larger turbos than I have..... but my car has no perceptible lag if you use the automatic trans to determine the shifts. Literally if you mash the gas, when the car downshifts, it is hammering into the dropped gear with full boost by the time it clicks off the downshift. If I'm not on a drag radial, a full roll on at 30mph is going be a smoke show. I used to be a supercharger guy but if you spec the turbos a little smaller....OMG. Superchargers are always going to be a little better out of the hole but the more you push the forced induction system the better the turbos work and the more heat issues you are going to have with superchargers...at least PD superchargers. Like Ted said, the exhaust pipes are hotter on the turbo car under low load then when you let it run. I have worked both systems trying to make stupid speed and I'm pretty firmly in the turbo camp now.

If you are racing from a roll with the trans drive you would instantly be at least a full car behind me before you started accelerating.

I hope no one is thinking I am hating on turbos. I am the biggest turbo fan out there. No belt breakage, no belt slip, no belt hp loss, adjustable boost on the fly, perfectly happy at 600hp or twist the knob and see 1200hp. If the hellion kit was available when I was ready it is what I would be running.

About the lag. With traction there is a dramatic difference between leaving at 800hp or leaving at 500hp with a 1/2sec rise to 800hp. What I was trying to say above was how easy it is to do a rolling brake boost and leave at full power. Being able to do this removes the only advantage a big screw blower might have had in a roll race.

I can’t believe there aren’t a pile of people running this kit already.

Agreed. Even the Pro Charger has "some slight" lag in it, but I've learned on my rolls at a 50 to be in 2nd instead of 3rd. On the stock lt4 blower, 3rd was the hit spot. Now, if I'm in 3rd with the F1a-94, I'm gonna lose to a say........whippled 1000 car cus their hit comes on instant. Now, once I'm on boost, I'll most likely come around on the big end depending how much they got a jump out on me. Anything more than a car length and it's over. But, on a 50 roll in 2nd? I'm hitting hard and coming out the hole pretty good. No lag. Got to find the sweet spot.

I know all turbos have lag of some sort, but you can take my word for it, I was cruising on the highway at 60 ish MPH in 8th gear, rolled the throttle down the trans dropped to 4 and it felt like Whipple hit and banged through the gears like a street bike.

I never expected it to hit that hard, blew me away.

Just shows that turbo system design makes a difference.

Ted.

All said and done, any idea how much weight this kit adds over the front wheels?
