Actually, the previous poster forgot to remind everyone that while taking away a little bit of the nice lines of the bumper (which you don't seem to think is a lot) it does in fact ALSO take away 370 one dollar bills from your bank account (which some people do think is a lot).

I thought there might be an indicator, I drove a Cadillac SRX that had 3 lights that went from green to red the closer you got to an object and you could see them in the mirror.

Originally the indicator was the plan and you can actually see the space they had ready for the LED lights right between the two rear seats. However it beeps and it works out very well. They rarely beep when I drive but I like the security of having them and for my car colour (Gray), the sensors are hard to see.

The feature comes standard with the 2LT package or with the 1LT CandC package. The feature does not come with the LS or 1LT model.

I was afraid that mine wasn't working. I was paging through the manual and it has a section about the visual indicators. I thought I would have to get the dealer to check it out.

I got my car in August, and I don't have them, but I'm on the fence as to whether I would want them. I do agree that the rear looks much better without them, but since I'm fairly short, it IS hard to see out the back, so I can definitely see how they would be useful. I don't think it's a crutch for people who can't drive...I've managed to drive for 20+ years without bumping into stuff (well once, but that's another story), but this car definitely has the biggest blind spots I've ever seen, so it would be nice to have a little help...if only they could do without those little round spots all over the bumper.....LOL!

Another crutch.

JMO, that's all. J....M....O
What do "kids" have to do with it? Anyone can back over a child, or any other object, if they don't know it's there.

I believe the point is more toward that of responsibility. In other words, "I do not have to be careful because I have backup sensors, air bags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, etc." and they will make everything o.k.

I thought it was $295 .....

From what I've been hearing from friends in the industry, you ain't seen nothing yet as far as safety stuff goes.... If you can't deal with backup sensors you gonna hate where things are headed....

Dosen't the feature also come standard on the 2SS? My 2SS/RS does not have them, but it is #8575 and was built in early May before they came out. I have to say that although they would be helpful when backing up the car and I glad I don't have them because I don't like how they look on the rear bumper.
