Which is better?

So I'm getting close in miles to want to change the oil but I'm also about to put it way for the winter. I live near Chicago so I always park my Camaros in the garage until around April or May.

So the question is: is it better to have the Camaro sit for 5+ months with the original factory oil in it and change in the spring, or change now so it sits with new oil for the next 5+ months? I'm not going to change it before and after- sorry, but I think that is a waste of money and creates needless waste.

Thanks.

Change it. The old oil will become acidic because of the heat and the absorption of some gasoline during the combustion process.

Fresh oil is better on the parts.

Huge waste of money. Please send me a check for whatever the oil change costs and only do it once if you plan that. I will put the money to better use on the plump ass of a stripper at Laces in manhattan....

its 4 - 5 months and its Synthetic oil, its not going to break down.

Park it, let it sit, change it when you put it back on the road.

Well even if he drives it he will have to change the oil in 4 or 5 months anyways so why is it any different if he isnt driving it??

It is different because he won't be driving it and I don't know if you've priced it but 8.5 quarts of synthetic oil plus a filter ain't cheap. There is no benefit to changing it and no detriment to not changing it right now, he can let it sit over the winter and then when its warm and hes ready to take it out he can change it, instead of doing it right now and freezing his balls off.

Incidentally I've had my car for about 6 months, 7000 miles and still have 30% oil life left after changing it at 1500 miles, I don't anticipate having to change it till February or March.

Thats 3 lap dances and a beer!!!

70 bucks is 70 bucks, not pocket change, personally it costs me only a few bucks less but I do it myself, I don't want those hacks touching my car.

waste of money to change your oil now since the car is going to storage anyway. When I had my FFR, it used to sit for months in between driving, same oil, no problem whatsoever.

...... leave the old oil in there and when it's time let it out and play, change it then. Your going to have it sitting in there for 5 months, whether it's new or old isn't going to make a difference.
