Renting a Camaro

I'm going to Phoenix for a few days and wanted to rent a Camaro. WOW talk about pricey. Avis wants $510.00 to rent a V6 for 3 days but only $233.00 to rent a Mustang. These prices are with all the surcharges. Why so much for the Camaro and does anyone know where I can rent one at a reasonable price?

also, where are you renting it from? the prices at airports are always higher...if that's the price at a branch not at the airport then that's the lowest you go...i do know that avis gives a 10%(i believe) discount if you're using an American Express card...i'f you are, i'd see if that would apply to the camaro(it's not much but its better then nothin)

that's most likely the reason for the high price, i'd see if there is a branch outside of the airport that's still close, and check on the price

that's a bummer...i just checked at logan airport(in boston) and for a premium car rental, it's 380 for 3 days and i think that's the class the camaro is under, it wouldn't show me camaro's, but i think it's under that class...it could also vary by state

I had checked some rental web sites a while back, Camaro's were going around $100.00 a day.

Christmas is a big travel time of the year which means lots of car rentals equals higher prices.?

The problem is, they are hard to find at rental places. My wife rented one for me for my birthday in November. She checked everywhere in the area and the only place that had them was at the airport. We live between Washington DC and Baltimore. There are a ton of rental places near us and literally no one had any except Avis at BWI. If I remember correctly I think it was around $200 for the day. Once they are out for a while the price may come down but, to me, it's worth the money. It was the best present I've ever gotten hands down.

you'll ONLY find them at avis...no where else...and they are usually at airports, not their outside branches, which stinksbut like you sed, once they've been out for a while it'll be much easier to rent one

Rented a "Premium" car in N.C.....ended up being Kia!...I said anything else? Oh ya Challnger (v-6), $488 3 days, Ins.,gas, tax (air port)....was fun but really glad I got the SS. My friend has 2010 SRT8...I do like his seats.

I just went through this in Nov. before buying mine. Budget and Avis are the only ones renting Camaro's that I found. The smaller offsite offices don't get the Camaro's unless someone turns one in there. They tried to reserve on for me at the local smaller office and were unable to. Airports are who gets them and yes, the prices are crazy. I passed on going to the airport to get one and then to pay the prices they wanted would have taken the fun out of it. Bought one anyway and love it.
