Just had my differential fluid changed and second oil change at the dealer and it was $199 & change. Had the first oil change @ 1500 miles and this last one @ 10,000 miles.

I get free shipping on Amazon. So $65 vs $100 is a significant difference. I watched a video of a couple guys doing an oil change and it was EASY. The only problem for me is getting it lifted. But I plan on buying up a couple lifts for my future upgrades anyway.

Here's that video:

The more I can do myself the better. I'm not enthused that I'll be paying massive amounts of labor for what I could be doing at home. Sure, a warranty problem goes to the dealer... but anything else I'm hoping to do myself.

Onstar notified me with 0% oil life remaining. My display showed 65% which I know is correct.
Subsequently, I did not renew my services with Onstar.

If they do it free when the idiot light comes on...just dont reset it when you get it down one time so the light will come one...one free oil change everyother one isnt bad

I got the exact same conflict and to boot it contradicted the prior month update. I called Onstar and they said it was an error on their side then an advisor called to tell me that my dealer did not reset the oil life indicator; WTH.? If that was the case the prior three updates would have been alerting me annd the car wouldn't have agreed with the priorsn which still tell me I have oil life. Onstar is wrong this month.

Thanks,

Goodness, the best recommendation was posted early on. Push the On star button, and point out the discrepancy.

I am amazed that this evolved into a price comparison for oil changes.

Danielle, do what you feel most comfortable with I have my oil changed every 3000 miles. One exception, I had Rosie's first oil change at 1500 miles, because he was new. Also, when you consider the cost of the oil and filter for an SS, it isn't too bad (at least for me) to pay my dealer $77. Besides, it is good to get to know your service manager.

From the sounds of it, I should stick with what the car says, and more or less ignore OnStar,or at least call em and point it out. Its bizarre because the car is sending the info to OS isnt it? I didnt get home til late last night so I didnt get to check but will before I drive her next....but good to know. I get damn near free oil changes, my other half is a shop manager at a shop down here, so it costs me cost lol. Thanks all for the advice!

My dealer gave me 2 years of free oil changes. I change oil every 3k, they tell me every 5 k with the synthetic oil. I'll do one, then they can do one. Everybody including Trigger is happy that way!

Ya, it's weird because my other 2 cars don't have this issue, just my camaro. My truck & Traverse have no problems

I think I have free oil changes too, but my dealership is in Denver, so its a good 1.5 hr drive and not worth it to me...but Im with you, I wont wait 10k but I think 3500 is too soon, Im not that hard on her, for having an SS I dont use her much, around here I dont need all the horses, doesnt take much to beat the comp lol
