On this day i forgot my wallet....I visited a family member and was coming back home.
I was not sporting around, and was only a block from my house when a motorcycle cop radared me, stepped out into the road and waved me over.

Me: F***.

O: Liscence, registration and proof.

ME: Double F***

O: You know how fast you were going...?

ME: speed limit ,though i was distracted by my instrument panel, flashing a warning"
( total lie)!!

( i should have said someone lasered me with a green laser pointer since its in the news) good secondary excuse.

O: Where is your L,R and POI ?

Me: i am a block from my home, my document are there, i only went around the block to check the CEL
and my dash lit up and flashed me a code!!! ( i was scrambling to wiggle free!!)

O: Your dash is displaying the speed limit funtion, i see no code! Wait here... Name please.

So i wait for 5 minutes , i see him pull out his traffic CITATION book .

Oh boy!

Me: Triple F***

O: I'm gonna give you a warning on the speed!
You 'll have to mail a copy of the DL in with 10 bucks + the NON moving citation i'm giving you. ( DL not carried)
ANY Qestions????

ME: No sir....thank you.!

O: You might wanna check what a 15 mile over the limit would have cost you.

ME : Yikes! this guy gave me real break!!

I reacted polite, and abit aloof as to why i was pulled over.
plus ,confused as though something was amiss engine wise on the car.

(really though i was looking for a CEL as i changed out 02 sensors last week...but its fixed.... couldn't think of any other rational /logical reason i wasn't paying attention.) I 've found if you tell them there is a safty concern on a newer car they are sympathetic, although its no excuse....at least they know your weren't hot footing ..something about speeding and not enjoying it...lets the officer be merciful.

I figured i was getting a speeding ticket. To my surprise, motorcycle cops DO have a soul!! He could have easily wrote my FOUR tickets.

Time to invest in a radar -laser detector.

Not in RI. New laws in affect. They pull you over. You get a ticket. My mom got hit going 5 miles over the limit down a hill near home. She's been driving for over 40 years and this was her first ticket. $95. @$$holes. She never speeds. They are just so hard up for cash that they are getting it where ever they can.

Here in RI someone pointed a green laser at an airplane and sounds like he will be doing some time in jail now.

Some cops are cool like that, on my motorcycle I got a warning for speeding (78 in a 50), driving without a license and evading the police! Not sure how the hell they can turn in a written warning for that.

I'm also in SE Florida and got nailed in a speed trap for 54 in a 30 one week after I got my car. 24 mph over approaches 'arrest me' status. I was angry at myself but I was silent and courteous (no idiotic excuses were going to work for me).

I thought that the officer was gonna teach me a lesson, but he comes back and says "I'm gonna give you a big break". I just got a warning and a ticket for not having my registration and insurance paperwork (car was brand new).

I really dodged a bullet there and I have been driving much more responsibly since. But I can't figure out why they bothered to set up a speed trap if they weren't going to give out tickets. I had to be the worst offender that morning. Maybe because my record is spotless.

Every officer is different... In my day I would have wrote the OP for every violation just because he lied... Being honest and courteous goes a long way with many officers... Telling lies, making up every excuse in the book and acting a fool usually goes nowhere but a hard copy...

So true. I got a warning for 78 in a 50.

Got pulled over, and asked if I knew how fast I was going. I said yes sir, I was in the upper 70's- I was passing that car who was only doing 40, had plenty of time, then your car came the other way over the hill. I still had time, but got very nervous about head on collision and speeded up to ensure a safe pass. Then I told him that I lost my left leg due to a drunk driver hitting me almost head on. I then apologized. He came back and said since my record was clean, I get a warning.

NEVER be rude to an officer. NEVER.
