wrinkle black is almost like a black coating similar to rhino lining for truck beds, and polished is well, polished chrome.

No difference in performance, mostly looks. I went wrinkle black as my last car I had an intake on it, polished and looked like ass when it was dirty!

When I received the wrinke black intake, I found out that it is metal (unlike other intakes that are plastic) with the "wrinkle black" finish. I went with wrinkle black because I've seen polished intakes that end up with scratches.

Mine came with the shield, it's probably good insurance to get even if not included. You only need it IMO if you get the long tube.

but the hydroshield won't have any effect when submerged right? That's why i opted for a short ram intake. I'm not disappionted with my decision. I've had my engine hydrolocked before, on the car i previously owned, that's with the by-pass valve installed so i want to do anything and everthing to stop that from happening again.

did you run your car into a lake? lol

I've had long tube cold air intakes for as long as i can remember. never used a hydroshield or bypass valve and have had zero problems.

yeah, not sure how you managed to submerge the intake. obviously a bypass valve couldnt possibly filter out all the water coming in if the intake is totally submerged. im pretty sure bypass valves are only good for keeping droplets out if its raining, if it recently rained, or if you hit small puddles.
