I'm kicking my SS to the curb when the ZL/1 comes out. There's no need to have a old worn out slow version of the same car.

If you plan on keeping the car under warranty , then an upgrade to ZL1 would make sense. But if you are going to mod, then keeping an SS makes sense.

Either way, not looking forward to a ZL1 passing me by.

If I was to buy the ZL1, and I'm not saying I am, I would sell my SS.
I can't see paying for insurance and registration for 2 cars when I can only drive one at a time. Here in AZ registration ain't cheap! Also I could pay off my ZL1 much sooner freeing up money to put toward mods.

Think of it this way...... the Camaro is only gaining popularity by the day. I hate to say this but here goes. In a few years the Camaro is going to be like the PONY car that Ford makes ( I think it's called a Mustang or something like that. LOL!! ) Everybody and their brother will have a Camaro whether it's a V6 or a V8.( it's too pretty to not have one right?) Kinda like seeing a Corvette, they will always be cool, but when you see a Z06 or even a ZR1 (because most of us can't afford one) you are like "Damn that car is sick!!" Well the same thing will hold true to the ZL1!! Get the ZL1 dude!!

Unless your are that keen on the ZL1. Keep your SS. If you want to be faster than the ZL1 add a maggie.

I was thinking of the ZL1 also and have some friends that are managers at some chevy dealers but after looking at my SS what I have done and what I plan on doing I could not see selling it. Also, not counting the V6 Camaro, had it only 2 months and traded it for the SS this is my second new car. My last one was destroyed in a Hit and Run while I was asleep. So I have become somewhat attached to it and can understand what you are saying.

On brighter side at least you have time for a decision. Myself I look at it as a new lego bin, so I can pick what i like and adapt it to my car, for a fraction of the cost.

Like others have said cars are not an investment, it takes 40-50 years and I would guess a lot of 70's muscle car owners are dead or close to it(i know a lot of you had them and are still young. But if you had a 70 chevelle and were 40 at the time you would be 70.

But IMO both are cars are going to look relatively the same, why have two one is slower and one is faster. I could see it if one was like a 2002, 1990, 1975, etc. But its like keeping your 2008 F250 SD when you have a 2011. Unless I guess you have a need for two vehicles.

Why would you want a SS and a ZL1? This is the question you need to ask yourself! I voted to sell. I can not think of a reason to have both. You regretted selling your 66 GTO because you waited till 2009 to get another "muscle" car. (I'm assuming this was years ago.) This would not be the case this time.

Congrats on 1000 post!!!

My advice...........wait until the "I want it disease" goes away and make a rational less emotional decision. You don't have to have the first one do you? If you do, then you already know the answer.

ALthought i dont discern your decision to buy the zl1 and stimulate this economy and i dont know you wealth or longterm goals but most millionaires suggest if you dont owe anything keep it that way, dont put urself in another whole and be upside down on a car that gm uses to pay back us the taxpayers billions that it recieved as a bailout. If you cant pay at least 80 percent on it or pay it off within 2 yrs ask yourself do you really wanna go there? If you do great, just some advice in bad times where people often get mislead that life cant be lived without this. My phloisophy, live life to the fullest but keep it that way
