I will be canceling mine this summer also. No need for it.

For those of you that did activate Onstar, just remember that you may have had to give a credit card number. They will bill auto-renewal using that credit card unless you call and tell them to remove the credit card form the accept

Called to cancel my service, got the rope-a-dope of course. But the rep did offer a 3-month free period and said to expect reduced rates within that 3-months to entice most subscribers to continue service. They won't be published rates so you will have to call and tell them you're not satisfied with current rates to get squeaky wheel discount.

Am I understanding some will cancel OnStar simply because they won't backfit their mylink services? I was wondering if they'd go back as far as my 2002 Camaro...such a tradgedy. Now I'm going to have to sell it.

Sounds like my uncle who seemed to trade cadillacs every other year because the ashtray was getting full and the tires were getting low.

Trade up to a 2011 or get ready to order a 2012. They'll have it. It sucks, but you should never have expected any retrofit when you buy something without it.

The mylink service would be the only thing to keep me as a customer. I don't really have a use for onstar so could really care less if I have it or not. I wasn't going to renew it anyhow but, was thinking about it for the app. For me, it has nothing to do with expecting to have it as I wasn't going to keep it anyhow.

I keep just the basic security version of OnStar. I like having that peace of mind, plus the diagnostics and if I ever lock myself out..etc.

The MyLink App would've been cool, but it would've been one of those things that you show your friends the first couple months, then slowly stop using. At least IMO. It's not a big deal, and anybody who expected this without any official word has nobody but themselves to blame. If your dealer lied to you, that sucks, but that's not OnStar or GM.

No, I did not cancel at the end of free trial because of the upcoming app release,so I thought I'd wait to check it out thinking it would be avail. For my car. If avail. I would try it out to see if it worth keeping, not available,no big deal so I cancelled. Simple enough for you.? Smartass

I don't think it warrants calling anybody a smartass. Opinions are just that... opinions.

What about smartass opinions?

I'm not trading mine in to get one that works with the App but I'm not paying for a service at full price for less function either. The only reason to keep it is peace of mind, accidents or locking keys inside the car somewhere in BFE. The Navigation feature is useless and if you have a phone that can BT to your car, you've eliminated the need for Onstar phone too.

When I told the Rep I would keep the minimum package activated for $10/month he didn't argue but couldn't do it until new rates were available. (About 3months) I'm guessing $15 might be closer to what they want.
