You don't really expect GM to pay for your mistake do you? I feel for you, but you know when started doing engine mods, you lost your warranty.

Just wonder, anyone have same thing happen to themselves in an UNMODDED Camaro?

Good luck with fixing it, hope you are on the road soon.
Keep ya posted.

My advice is to take everything off that you can reuse and call CC performance or PM him on here and talk about buying an engine from them..you can get a shortblock forged from them at a fair price ( i think less tha than 6K or the long block if all the rest of your stuff is ok for not much more. Good luck!!
I'm already exploring multiple options on what's next.....what better place to explore those options than here?

There is my lsx376 swap thread

There is my engine failure thread, with lots o pics.
I looked into the 376 but wasn't interested in the low compression ration while staying NA.

I would like to say they will be nice..but I spent HOURS less than 2-3 weeks ago arguing with them over it.. they did nothing and hung up on me.. so i bought a new engine ultimately.

oh and the new lsx376 isn't 9:1 like stated.. its 10.7:1. they haven't changed the paperwork yet.. if you look up the part number for the new pistons..they're not dished, they're ls3 style.

Sooo sorry to hear your baby died. Was thinking about some performance mods but maybe now I'll reconsider or have a complete motor built down the road.

Yes we do. He voided the warranty when he put a cam in & had it tuned. That's his mistake. It might not have been what failed, but GM could care less.

Same case here.. lifter failure, they don't care.

So hopefully he has money for a new engine.. might as well go big

Hope everything works out for you Mike,I had heard about your misfortune while I was at the banquet dinner Friday night.
It is scary, because I plan on doing a cam myself to go along with the CAI,headers,cat-back,and tune that I already have,I guess I can't worry too much though,I bought the car to have a little fun and enjoy modding it.

Have these catastrophic failures been happening to modded L99 cars as much as modded LS3 cars? It seems the bulk that I read about are LS3 cars.

That's why I'm keeping my warranty in tack. After the warranty expires, the modding fun begins.

yeah...this scares the crap outta me everytime I read one of these failure stories...car runs great, then....POW!!! Ive wanted to get my motor stroked and forged but the cost is so prohibitive. I was willing to do it but I've been reassured that I can get the car tuned and cammed safely with plenty of fuel and modest boost and be safe...really starting to rethink doing the stroker!! Either that or stop visiting this forum!
