Does the 2LT have AFM or something similar?

The reason I ask. When I take off normally (light foot pressure), at lower RPM it almost seems as if the car hesitates/sputters/surges (not sure what the right word is). Once the RPM's are up or it shifts the problem is not there. Also if I punch it off the line, the problem is not there, no hesitation at all.

From what I can tell (doing searches) it does not have AFM, so I want to see if there could be a problem with my car or this is normal for the V6

Sorry if this is a stupid question but this is my 1st new car, so I have a lot of learning to do on all the technology.

Is this normal for the V6?

i dont think that it has any sort of AFM but there is variable valve timing, and that means that your cams have two modes of operation depending on how aggressive you throttle the engine.

So what you are saying is this would be pretty normal?

What's this "light foot pressure" of which you speak??

JK

I don't seem to have this problem, but I also don't usually take off easily either.

Caused by traffic or nearby LEO's

I have neither a V6 nor automatic trans, but this does not sound normal to me. Is it the same whether the A/C is on or off?

Well that not good. So far I've only driven the car with the A/C on, I guess you'd suggest driving with it off to see if the problem is there?

Normal ... It's a drive by wire throttle, so there is a hesitation when you hit the gas, also it won't be as bad when the weather cools.

I was going to ask if you had the a/c on when this happens but "duh" central florida + july = prolly so. Is your an automatic or manual? I have a manual and don't get hesitation with a/c on but I can tell when I turn it on, the engine lugs just a bit pulling the extra power. No hesitation outta the gate though.
If it's a manual and you're stepping out lightly, you might not be giving it the rpm it needs to move out smoothly?
and yeah, I'd try it without the a/c on and see how it handles.

Yep AC on, the car is auto. I have a feeling I am just baby'ing to much off the line at times. Like I said when I give it good gas, I have no issues.

Thanks, but would if be normal to continue for seveal seconds, it's almost like it's builing up RPM's. As mentioned above, this seem to really only happen when I baby the take off. It's almost like the car wants to go but is saying, hey stupid, where is the gas (if that makes sense). Normal take off, no issues.

My Camaro doesn't have the driver mod (automatic), but my Equinox does and does what you describe. It's a 4-banger but I attribute this condition to too much PCM-transmission control. Let the friggin' driver drive the car.

If you have an automatic V6.... when you are at a stop.. and if you don't pounce on the throttle causing a downshift from a stop, the car starts in 2nd gear to save fuel. So since you are lightly pressing the gas, you are in 2nd when you start...not 1st.

Edit: I heard this from another member on the forums, and from experience it seems to be true.

But not 100% on it.

WOW, I never knew this. For some reason when I read my manual, I interpreted that only the V8 would start in second gear. Time for me to do some more reading...

this is what VVT looks like:

when you get on the throttle, the cam behaves differently.
