ZL1, Z06, or keep modding my SS??

At this point the first two options are wishful thinking but not unattainable. I wouldn't mind making my SS more of a race car and buying a ZL1 and lightly modding for a more dependable street car. Also the option of not having two camaros and buying a Z06 crossed my mind as well. the third and final option would be just continue to just keep building my SS and never look back!

What do y'all think?

i have always wanted a Z06 but im but after owning the camaro i really like the muscle car stigma. i dont mind having 2 Camaros. i was just considering having a sports car but im not sure if it suits me.

another thing is that the Z06 i would buy is MORE than likely going to be used opposed to a new ZL1.

i am content with my car but i dont want to dump 30-40k in a car when i can own another! thats just my way of thinking. i would rather have 2 cars than one 8 sec car... I think.... LOL

Honestly, i dont see the point in having 2 5th Gen Camaro's. Yea, 1 may be the ZL1 and the other is an SS model but both are still Camaro's in the end. I would much rather have 2 different car's instead of 2 of the same but that's just me.

I'd say keep modding. Everyone points out the downside to modding (no warranty), but they never point out the upside - you get exactly what you want.

Having said that, I don't believe you can mod in the MRC system. So...

Generally, I'd agree.
But, starting to think, if I had known when I purchased the SS how much work it needs to be a real sports car, I would have purchased a Z06 or ZR1 and called it a day or perhaps another vehicle entirely. On, average the SS needs $20-30+k of build up to replace almost everything on it, that's getting into Z06 price ranges.
This vehicle needs new suspension, bushings, wheels, head accessories, exhaust, brakes, even the engine internals are garbage it never ends on this thing (GM could have at the very least forged the internals).
Yes, when you're done it will kick a ZL1's and most any stang on the road, but it's gonna' cost big time.
It's too bad though, I think this would have been a great legacy on GM's comeback instead it's just hype for a few months, and then a bunch of busted parts piled up in a junk bin while they open new markets elsewhere in the world to increase profits.
Just installed an SC about 1mos. ago, and took all safety precautions with top notch head accessories, fuel system, modest boost @ 7psi., etc.., and few days ago broke down on hwy doing 100kph. (thats about 60mph.). So, far analysis shows busted an engine valve (probably more damage to piston, possibly more, analysis not done yet). Haven't even had a chance to get on the stip yet, and ka-plunk, done.
Get a Z06 if you can, and forget about mod'ding the SS unless you're already in too deep (like me).

.

Get the ZL1 to use as a daily driver.

After you've enjoyed it for a year or so, then start thinking about which of your cars you like best, and whether you would give up the other one for a Z06. By that time you might have to consider the next update as well.

If you can afford more than one, it's a Win-Win situation.

Post of the day right there.

Hopefully the ZL1 wont cost as much to build up but I have a feeling we are all going to see the limitations of the LSA's non forged internals right away and members going with built engines to keep up with the rest of the FI guys.

Even the Z06 needs a lot of supporting mods due to its IRS and stock engine and trans limitations.

My ultimate dream 5th gen would have the LS9/ A6 from GS or custom tuned auto, and a solid rear axle. That car would freaking dominate in stock form and have the ability to be modded to 1,000hp without having to worry about breakage. That should of been the ZL1 since the original was a hard core drag racer and not a "Ring" fighter.

Fully forged your motor and turn up the boost!! 1000+whp would be easy reach.
