Question Tire Rotation Suggestion

I know this subject has probably been beaten to death but I couldn't find enough results to draw my own conclusion. On the 2010 with the RS package I've heard you can only rotate side to side and that doesn't help much.

But I also read someone say they bought all 20x9 tires and this allows them to rotate them. I thought the front and back wheels were a different size preventing you from using the same size tire. Is anyone else trying this or know if this is possible?

unless you match the same size rim/tire on both front and back, the only tire rotation you can do it side to side....which no, probably isn't worth doing. So basically, you can buy an extra pair of rear 20" wheels and put them on your front.....and you would be able to rotate them.

Bear with me as I'm a computer geek who knows nothing about cars. So when its time to replace my tires, I can just buy the size that fits on the rear wheels and they will fit on the front wheels as well(allowing rotation)? Or does the front wheels have to be replaced to match the size of the back wheels, then I can buy the same tires all around?

I'm not even sure what the tire/wheel size I have are. I bought a 2010 2LT RS and everything is still stock if that helps.

No... You have 245s (width) on the front and 275s on the rear. You would need to get the same size tires that came on the car to be safe which will not allow front to rear rotating. The rear wheel is wider so putting 275s on the narrower front wheel is ill-advised.

You could buy 2 more rear wheels and run 275s all around. This will allow rotatiing.

I knew this going into buying my SS/RS but I figured it was a minor $$ inconvenience to pay to have a sexier better handling ride. Besides tire rack sells the stock rubber for $890 for the whole set..$240 each for the rears if you like to burn rubber. Not bad in my book, a buddy pays 1200 for a set of tires for his vette so I think we got off kind of easy

Pretty soon other companies besides Pirelli, Goodyear, and Continental will make tires for the Camaro. The price will drop. I'm waiting on Hankook myself. The Ventus Evo does great in the RWD cars we see.

Hankook makes Ventus tires that will fit the rears. I'm putting on a set this weekend.

Is there any downside to having 20x9's on the front?

245/45/20 size tires fit on both the front and rear wheels. That's what I did with my winter set and it worked out fine. I mean I still don't rotate them because the rear wheels are wider than the front, but you can get all the same size tire.
