I have it on my '11 R/S and plan on paying for it when the trial runs out.

We have Safe and Sound on all of our newer vehicles and love it. Great piece of mind for my hubby if I decide to take a road trip on my own. And the sat phone is great to have for those areas where there isn't cell service. Granted the minutes are pricey but we only use them when absolutely necessary.

Not true, there are quite a few which aren't commercial free (Such as KIIS and WLTT to name a couple) and a lot of the stations on there, while they are "commercial free," engage in shameless self promotion or do long, boring interviews I really don't care about. I like 90s on 9 but beyond that I have an iPod and Pandora and I don't see the need to pay that much for the 10-15 radio stations on there that I actually listen to.

I actually.. Just renewed my service. I have not experienced any issues with the service. The reps are very friendly, they can look up phone numbers for you, and find Points of Interests using Google. Plus.. You can use mapquest to plan a route and send the destination to your car. So far.. AWESOME feature.

I have XM radio. They kept bugging me and finally gave me 5 months for around $20.00.
Just have to remember to cancel it this Oct or it reverts to the regular price.
I kept ON-Star but not GPS navigation. I would keep GPS if they offered an inexpensive
summer plan as I rarely drive my Camaro in the winter.

As a realtor, I use the Nav feature a lot. The complaints I have with it seem to be happening recently - never have they had so much trouble getting me somewhere as they have the last couple months. It's rare anymore that they understand the word TUCSON. Even after I say it and spell it they keep stumbling. Come on people- Tucson is a major city - you should have heard of it at some point? Last night they sent me to a completely wrong address. Kind of frustrating - wish they'd train them better.

I never used On Star when I had it for free trial and the cost is simply way too much...GPS + Cell Phone+Blue Tooth...for accidents, 99% of the time there are people around who will be there within a minute for help and can call 911. Sorry - for me, it's a big waste of money.

XM...when it's time to renew just keep saying "no" and hint that you know a friend who is paying only $74 a year and they will give you that....or just use your IPod

Umm no, KIIS and WLTT are FM stations not the music channels of Sirius XM. Either you're mixing your FM stations up with your XM ones, or they rebroadcast certain FM stations in some parts of the country. The "shameless selh promotion" is a 5 second channel tag, and although some channels do have interviews and things like that (which yes I agree can be annoying) it is not like they are all the time and all day, I only catch them very very occasionally. And at least the interviews are with musicians relevant to the genre, and I've also found they are usually broken up by music and don't go beyond 5 minutes.

I've had the "Safe and Sound" plan for the past 3 years on my two Saturns and now on my 'vert. The "peace of mind" knowing that OnStar can unlock my car, get me a tow, monthly systems report, trouble-shoot any DIC codes or if my 'vert seems to be "acting up", is near-priceless.

HOWEVER, I'm wondering what most you are going to do when your 5-year "GM Roadside Assistance" runs out when you need a tow, gas, or many of you SS owners, when you run a flat tire?

It seems to me AAA would be the least expensive solution for roadside assistance. Perhaps a lot of people will have moved on to a new car before that happens.

I re-instated On-Star after a tire issue on the way back from Oshawa. I pay $12.99/mo for safe and sound. However, they just informed me that per my request, my credit card will be billed $31.21/mo for continuous coverage on my 2011 Equinox for Directions and Connections when the free trial runs out next month. Are they on crack? Apparently when you have multiple vehicles on one account they will take liberties. I never agreed to that and I've never used it on either vehicle. I will be pulling the rug out on that one. Also, I let XM go their merry way after the free trial on both and the other day I accidentally went on XM on the Camaro, and it works! Don't know for how long or if they're running a free promo, but it doesn't work on the Equinox. I've never opened an account with them, and probably can't cancel it since I really don't have it.

I just swapped my Onstar with one from a 2010 so I can have bluetooth for my phone. Now the service doesn't work because it's not compatible with the 2011. At least I have bluetooth though.
