Have you ever?

So.... I read a lot where people go fast and straight...has anyone ever taken their Camaro on a speedway or other track besides drag racing?

Really wanted to...but of course that was as close as I could get w/o being asked to leave.... my wife wanted to pull into victory lane..had to explain that I really like my season tix.

I got to do that with my Vette at Texas Motor Speedway a few years ago. It was a blast and I got up to 125! I would love to try it with my Camaro!

I'd say take a ride on Old Route 66 if you can. I guess any interstate close by will do. Personally, I live in Lansing and cruise at night with no one on the road, usually midnight to 4:00am depending on what I'm doing. I work 12 hour nights from 1800-0600, so I am usually up around this time anyhow and that's about lunchtime. Not a lot of cops during that time and I just go as fast as I want on the streets. I haven't had any trouble yet, and I seen plenty of cops, sherrifs and state troopers. Have you topped yet? I have only gone 97 mph if memory serves. I did 68mph in a 30mph last night. Believe me, I try to go with no one on the road and when it's safe. Good luck on your quest my friend.

Great pics from Texas Motor Speedway! That's me pulling in last! Was so much fun - definitely going back next year.

Was hilarious to watch the Smart cars tooling around the track. Especially the one with the big wind-up-toy winder on the back.

Not a Camaro, but I've taken my car to Watkins Glen for a track day.

I'm going again in a couple weeks, most fun I've ever had in a car. Its hard to even describe how much harder you can push your car on an actual track with no limits on how fast you can go, I highly recommend people try to find a track around them and give it a try.

Thanks for that one too! This just looks like fun... I did get to do a ride along at the track at 160 mph......that is fast when you are about 18" from a wall.....

I have a track day set in November, maybe 2, can't wait!

Search HPDE (High Performance Driver Education) for a track day near you I think NASA and Hooked on Driving are the biggest nationwide groups out there that offer track days.
