2012 ZL1 and 2013 GT500 will be hitting the showrooms just about the same time next year.

Not really fair. I have noticed lately Ford has been releasing their cars super early. A 2013 in March/April of 2012? Thats the only way they will have the advantage over the ZL1 when it comes out. They do not want it to beat the GT500. Still needs to be compared to a 2012, or compare the 2013 ZL1 to the 2013 GT500.

When the only new gt500 you can order in mid 2012 is a 2013 and the only zl1 you can order in mid 2012 is a 2012, why in god's name would anyone be comparing a year old used gt500 to a brand new, off the truck zl1? Simply because Ford decided to call theirs a 2013 and Chevy decided on 2012? If that's not grasping at straws I don't know what is. |

And for the record, Ford has not adjusted their Job 1 date in response to anything GM has done/is doing. The 2005 Mustang was available in the spring/summer of 2004. It's been on a regular release schedule for many years.

Because thats the only way Ford will stay on top. They are waiting for the ZL1 to come out and right when it does, they will have the new GT500 out. It seems thats the main reason Ford is releasing it so soon. What happened to the next model year coming out at the end of summer. It seems like they all used to do that. I am not saying it isn't a smart thing to do. In 2013 they will probably have a 2015 out already!

I had a 2005 Mustang and got it in May of 2005. Are you sure they were made in 2004? I remember when I got it everyone would stare and take pics and stuff. I thought they started making it early 2005?

IDK I remember the next model year always coming out at the end of summer. The 2011 Camaro started production in June and went on sale July/August. To me, its odd to release a next model year so soon. Its not big deal to me, even if the 2013 GT500 is a better performer I will still be going with a ZL1 if I can afford it. If I cared that much about performance, I would have traded my SS for the "All-Mighty" 5.0.

I could never own a boring DD. I drove my grandmas 2010 civic last week to work to save gas and mileage on my car. Man is it boring, no power and I just felt so ordinary driving it. I did not feel like a car guy at all. I do not see how people drive boring cars everyday!

I had a 2005 Mustang, too. IIRC, the car was introduced at the North American Auto Show in January 2004, and went on sale that summer. I bought mine in September of 2004. Didn't keep it long though, I had ordered an automatic and ended up regretting the decision.

Hmm thats weird. I did not see any on the road until the beginning of 2005. And when people saw my car they reacted to in a similar way as they did when the Camaro came out.
