Two years w/o a front license plate and no problems (so far!). I was even pulled over once (for excessive speed) no ticket nor mention about not having a front plate!

The directions require you to drill 3 holes into your fascia. Then you will put the little rubber feet into the holes. Once the rubber feet are in place, you put the screws into the feet, which then expand the feet to hold the bracket in place. I however, felt that was not as secure as it should have been, and I didn't want to see my license plate fly off as I was riding down the highway. However, numerous times I did a little bit faster than I should have, and it stayed in place.

BUT to prevent it from actually coming off, I replaced the screws and feet with screws and bolts. So its on there pretty tight unless I curb the front of the car.

live in a state that doesn't require it but bought the car in a state that requires it and it was already drilled. I removed it and painted some plugs and took the holder off early this year after having it on my car the first year. Much better without!

Here in Oregon there are supposedly 2 different sets of laws that apply to no front plate, both with different fines. One for parking/parking tickets, the Parking Patrol Officer can give you a $53 dollar fine WHILE PARKED. The other law is a moving violation ticket if you get caught while DRIVING without a front plate, supposedly that is a $177 fine in Oregon if you get a dick cop that wants to give you that ticket.

I got pulled over a few times when I was in high school for no front plate, and although I never got a ticket for not having a front plate, I did get a butt load of other tickets. One day in 2003 I decided to follow the law () and not get tickets any more, and haven't since (knock on wood). I ALWAYS have a front plate on all of my cars, and ALWAYS make sure the rear license plate light works, that way if I get pulled over I know its not for some BS excuse I just listed.

Here's my plate with the bent style JacFab bracket on my car.

I have the hideaway bracket, too. I have been pulled over once and the cop gave me a ticket even though I showed him i had it and could pull it out, but that was in a city that's known to be really dickish about tickets. Passed a cop this morning in a different city (I assume he was waiting for speeders) and he didn't budge. Guess it depends on your luck but the hideaway is your best bet.

It is not worth the ticket ($125) to me so I made my own bracket. Never liked the plate mounted off to the side unless it is parallel to the front of the car. The Camaro has too much of an angle to side mount it. Bending it around the nose looks bad too!

Its required here, I haven't had it on the car since I got it in Dec 09. Not a single ticket.

I can see pulling someone over without one to do a little fishing but writing a ticket for not having one is lame unless it's filed under: Pissed Off Police.

But no, I don't have one on mine. The dealer even said they don't install the front bracket on it because most owners hate it.

This is the last car I had that wore a front plate. 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. Got a ticket in this car for not having a plate. Took it home and put it on.
