I'm 34, clean record with 2011 Truck, 2010 SS, and a boat. $140/mo with State Farm.

And I'm on the bandwagon. With all those degrees you'd think there would be some common sense!

Sounds like a typical 20 year old kid who hasn't had his soul crushed by having to pay his own way yet. $1300/month really isn't much if you have no other expenses and someone else's home to live in.

Like I said...$1300/month for insurance..wow..just sell the car and buy something cheap. It's not worth it at all.

If you're living in your folks' home and they're not there, use the opportunity to save up for your own place. I couldn't imagine being under my folks' roof at age 20.
Hmmmmmmmm.......At age 20, single tax bracket is the highest on wages, supposing the $1300.00 for the insurance is all he earns net, thats equates to roughly $550.00 per week alone in before taxed gross wages. I'd take a stab and say that $550.00 in weekly wages is tops for a very very bright and energetic ( and we aren't talking Bill Gates), full time college student (99 percentile)............if he pays all the other household bills while his folks are cruising Latan America ( and we can assume if they can afford that, it isn't a tiny shack), phone, internet, utilites, taxes, and maintenance let alone anything else, double that amount to after tax costs of at least $2600.00. Then figure in the monthly costs ( Remember this kids got expensive tastes and habits like Midas ) food, clothing, entertainment, dating, basic school expenses, a allotment for personal items, misc toys, gadgets and communication devices....toss in a mimimum of another $2000.00 per month and you'd come up with a bare bones need of about $4600.00 in after taxed earnings or 7-9k in before taxed gross wages.................No way is a child earning that sort of disposable income....no way, nor does he have enough free time to. I'll call too!~ and I'm pretty naive and gullable otherwise usually and yes the thread stinks, like dead fish.......really old Mackerel.

Not to jack the this odd thread or anything, but if you enlighten us here there would be a made rush for a collector policy with me in line first!
There is a huge amount of restrictions on the policy. The car must be stored in a garage, must accumulate less than 2000 miles per year and can only be used for recreational and show.

Being that in 2.5 years I have only put 500 miles on my car and it has virtually never left the garage I qualify. 99.9% of owners would not qualify.

I have not had to use them for this car - but I did purchase a 1971 Cuda that was damaged in transit and without even being listed on my policy yet they covered it without issues.

I gotcha.....
I figuered there was more to the story.

It was a great deal on my "old" Camaros and such before I got this one.
I had a 5000 mile per year limit which is about what seems I will be putting on my early 2011 purchased in Aug. of 2010.

I'm sorry,I have to drive mine more than 500 miles in 2 1/2 years

I thought maybe there was a way since it's my "weekend" playtoy and not my daily driver...which is also a requirment.

I am 41, live in NJ, Single, and I pay $633.80 per six months. I'm sure I'd pay less if I was married, but I guess what I pay isn't all that bad. Comes out to $105.63/Month.

Oh, I use Geico by the way.

A quick search shows the OP...
  1. Got his car around Nov 14th this year.
  2. Owns a 2010 Escalade ESV.
  3. Is looking for 26 rims.
  4. Is storing it for the winter.

I say is NOT paying that much money for storage insurance. Why would you buy a car to store it at those rates?

Maybe I just misread something.
