How restrictive is the air intake system or the air filter. could a simple drop in on the SS sneak out a couple more MPG?

With the importance of CAFE ratings and things like gas guzzler taxes at stake, and more importantly horsepower at stake, I doubt that GM's engineers would be so incompetent.

Anyway, if it can make 426hp when running WOT at redline, it can certainly flow entirely unimpeded when you're cruising along at 1500rpm with the throttle mostly closed.

I averaged around 30-31 mpg on the highway- driving at 65-
When i get one the streets i average around 22-23 mpg

Oh yea i have a 1SS Manual

Heres a pic of driving on the freeway for a bit of time

Wow that's great! I can't say that my '04 A4 Convertible 1.8T gets much more to the gallon.

32.4 mpg highway with V6 with auto 65 mph

around town about 24 mpg

getting 17.5 average w 175 miles on the car, mostly city and I most certainly do not have a light foot
