Covered or uncovered

As I'm reading through different threads and seeing pictures of other members camaro's in the thread. I'm noticing some of you decided to blurr out your licenses plates. While others care to show them I was just curious as to why is this and does it even make a difference?

Me on the other hand I chosed to blur mines out just for privicy reasons. What's your reason if any?

Covered or uncovered

Those that cover/blurr their plates in photos do realize that people can actually see them when they drive public roads right??

Your actually right. But when ur actually driving your really not pay attention to a license plate. As much as if your seeing it being display on a computer screen.

There's more information on your profile view - "Queens' NYC" than on your license plate. You narrowed yourself down to a specific city in New York - but will blur out your plate for privacy?

I'd understand people doing it if they also had locations unlisted.

I never understood this either. I don't bother blurring mine in my pics. You'll see it on my car as I'm driving anyway.

Someone explained that they do it for different privacy reasons. Meaning it keeps forum stalkers from viewing a picture that shows the license plate, finding the car's location, and going to steal mods, wheels, or the car itself. The average driver on the road might not notice or care about a modified car, but most people that navigate forums are educated about what different mods cost and the more you post, the less privacy you have. And also showing your license plate number and posting in threads about speeding/racing or other topics links your car to the activity; might be a big deal if one is worried about increased litigation. It's a personal preference with how much info you want out there I guess?

The rumor was that quite a few years ago a company collected a huge list of cars with non street legal mods and sold them to the insurance companies, which began denying insurance.

Keep in mind that headers would get you on this list, and in some cases a CAI.

While no longer practiced, the paranoia from this incident continues with people blocking their plates.

The other reason, and this still occurs, in heavy car culture areas the police will monitor the forums for cruises that could have racing potential and staff accordingly.
