When it comes to CHP they have jurisdiction in the whole state for traffic issues.

I know they walk through the LAX parking lots and cite cars without front plates, they got me once that way on a prior car.

Caught a break from CHP yesterday (I believe I was in the right all along). Going north on I-5 around Mission Viejo. CHP entered freeway in front of me. He's cruising along at 65-70. I'm behind him, just keeping pace. He slows and gets next to me. Knowing I'm not speeding, I didn't slow down. He then gets behind me. I switched lanes, he switched lanes. BAM! Lights me up. Said I was speeding. How could that be, when he was in front of me. I never sped up while he was beside me or behind me. He first said he radar'd me at 78, then he said he paced another car at 80, and I was going the same. After I voiced my disagreement, he said he'd cut me a break and give me a warning. I must be a CHP magnet. I'm 2-0 with them though. Side marker ticket thrown out, and this officer didn't cite me. I gotta play the Lotto tomorrow.

lucky gunny my damn ticket just came on the mail for speeding cost is $443.00 grr man! and then traffic school $57.00 grand total of $500.00 im in a shit hole tryna digg my self out fml...

State needs money fellas, chippies are citing everything, Gunny glad you stood your ground I HATE chp officers they lie way to often and give us good cops a bad name.

wow...shady...i am NOT a fan of CHP...i feel they just sit around lookin for people to give grief to. i have been nailed by them a couple times for tint, plate etc. never for speeding...i seem to have good luck there. its not that i dont speed - i do (nothing too crazy). but thankfully for one reason or another, whenever i see one lately i am going slower. anyone who travels on the 210 between the 15 and 215 - they are EVERYWHERE! and hiding in some creative spots too. city police have never even looked twice at me...

Jorge, was the front plate part correctable? Sounds like it should be. I know it sucks, but maybe do the zip-tie thing. This CHP deliberately looked at the front of my car...no front plate. Didn't cite me for that either. I would have understood if he did, though. I'm in the wrong there. No argument at all. But, I do keep the plate in the pocket behind my passenger seat, just in case.

Scott, man that's the truth. State budget is a mess. I wonder how much ticket fees/fines, and court costs reduce it? Reasonable cops like you do get a bad rap from the bad...I do admit. And my brother's a cop. I kid him all the time.

Yeah, you gotta watch it. These cars make it hard to be 100% legit all the time. Not even 30 seconds prior to this incident, I was "spirited" cruising with a Challenger SRT8. I bet he thought I got caught...but NOPE!

GunnyG- well I have the bolt on bracket lisence plate holder I bought it like that.. I had it on and everything, I just had the HeadTurners logo on there but I had my CA lisence plate in my trunk... I had told him that it was in my trunk and that if I could show it to him and he told me no your ticket is already filled out sir.. I look at the ticket and sign and my court date is 8-7-12 the day b4 my birthday... I was pissed!!
