You would have known about the orbit thing if you had just done a search!

It doesn't cost anymore to drive around on a full tank than it does to drive around on empty.
Well, it actually could.... a full tank of gas is heavier than a 1/4 tank of gas.... more weight=less MPG=more money... just saying

If you only ever fill it up to 1/4 tank, you're also going to have to make more frequent trips to the gas station. So even though you might be getting a tiny improvement in MPG, those extra trips to the gas station will eat up those savings.

Because the less fuel that's in it is the less fuel the pump has to keep itself cool. The pump uses fuel to keep cool. So if there is no fuel then there is no cooling and the pump always runs hot. So if you keep the tank full the pump will run cooler and last longer.

Check your rear view mirror, that is me right behind you! BEEP! BEEP!

1/8 tank fill ups in all my vehicles. I fill up somewhere below 1/4 and just above 1/8. 10k miles on this car and never had the low fuel light on. I would never waste my time at the fuel pumps filling up at 1/2 full.

actually, not that funny. excessive hyperbole, and pretty lame to tell you the truth. kind of grade school. and also completely inaccurate as low fuel does in fact cause the pump to work harder and increase wear. though seeing you guys walking down the side of the road with a gas can does bring a smile to my face. usually pass at least one every day.

Really dude, your sense of humor is seeing someone walking down the road, in need, carrying a gas can? Now to me that is also pretty lame. Now I don't see that as being funny and not too many people actually carry empty can in the car with them. But me being kind of grade school I would at least put gas in the can before putting it in the trunk. Besides, how is it that you would see me walking down the road carry a can if I fill it up below 1/4 and above 1/8?. I guess you didn't read my last reply.

when they're too stupid to fill up when the car says empty, yes, its mildly amusing. it's always nice seeing stupidity punished

yep ran out of gas after a long day at work, what you need to know is the check engine light will be on if you run it empty, after cranking it without gas you may even set a crankshaft code that could disable varous systems in the car, like you tach and traction systems but don't panic, clear the codes and all will be fine, there is no sludge to be found in your tanks unless you put it there on purpose.
