Apple unveils iOS in the Car integration for head-end units (Including Chevrolet)

Announced today at WWDC 2013. All these badges will feature the functionality next year. Hopefully including Camaro.

Apple has been teasing an extra level of integration with cars beyond the likes of iPod Out or Siri Eyes Free, and it just gave us substantially more today. A new iOS in the Car feature will directly link iOS 7 with cars' infotainment systems, giving drivers an optimized interface for maps, messages and music. They'll be waiting awhile to plug in, however, as a number of automakers (including Ferrari) only expect to implement iOS in the Car sometime in 2014.

I want NOTHING to do with this in my car. I would guess we won't see it in the camaro anyway...more than likely the newer my link systems will get it.

I'm thinking they would add this for a new model year, but not backport it to older ones. Also, they may take issue with people using this feature instead of ordering the nav system for their car.

I hope it comes for my car, but that being said, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Personally, I think Stereo head units as they are today should go away. The car should be equiped with speakers and amps, or an option to add your own amps and speakers etc. with decent cables already run throughout the car speaker locations. Then it's up to the consumer to purchase their preferred device, iPhone Android phones etc. The car would be equipped with a generic dock, that would allow you to purchase the dock to mates with your preferred device, say an iPhone. Then when you get into the car, the device is plugged in and the display for the device is displayed on the auto screen, touch and all works and you can use your device apps. Gt rid of the Radio and CD player etc. Have it be an option that is. I think that is the direction the auto industry should take. Forget this having a separate system in the car crap.
