that's what it sounds like to me. for whatever reason, the manager of the dealership doesn't want to do the right thing. don't know if he thinks he'll get fired for costing the place money, or if he's paid a bonus based on profits and doesn't want to loose that, or something else. kind of blows my mind that someone is operating a business like this, and that GM allows it. Don't they care about their name? I know I've watched the company I work for eat losses when we're wrong. but they always tell us, do the right thing. |

After reading your story, I checked out this dealer rater site. It's odd that they have such a high rating given the issues you have had along with others.

You know as I continue to read this and think about it GM really has nothing to do with this. The dealer messed up the warranty repair and is responsible for correcting it at their cost, not the customers or GM. Why would GM want to pay for the dealers faulty repair?
I'd like to see GM step in and force the dealer to do the right thing, but honestly try really don't have to and probably cannot force them to. So as the others say a lawyer may be needed to go after the dealer the make this right. Hopefully a lawyer can get them to do the correct repairs. Sent from my 2SS/RS |

I'd also highly recommend the op go take some pictures of his car ASAP. there is sure to be bad blood however this ends, and would suck if you pulled out of there with a bunch of scratches, dents and other blemishes on your car. I'd definitely go document how it looks. you seem to be dealing with some very dishonest, unprofessional, and petty people over there. |

Remember GM approved the original warranty repair. Now that an engine is needed because of a dumb as mechanic, why should GM take the hit on that? This is just a crappy situation all around for the OP. Sent from my 2SS/RS |

GM didn't have anything to do with it???? Really??? GM manufactured the engines with faulty lifters ....Never recalled them....Hoped no one would notice...hopes the dealerships telling you...oh that's normal with cure it....The only reason Nutro,s engine was torn down was because of what???..GM is the root of the problem...this dealership just put icing on the cake

I'm gonna go hold a sign that says "Chuck Nash Lied" in front of the dealership this morning. Won't do much but if it discourages 1 or 2 people from shopping there it would be worth it.

That'll get their attention....I had a buddy having a time with a dealership...on the way home from work he ask me to stop by a grocery store...he came out with a bag of lemons and a little toy car...a couple miles down the road the same dealership was having a big tent sale at the fairgrounds....my friend pulled the axles off the toy car and shoved them threw the lemon, took it to were the salesmen were making deals and started rolling the lemon up and down the table telling everyone that this is what he got from the dealer...instantly they pulled him aside and promised him to make it right..they satisfied him...but look at the extreme it took....i high 5 my friend for having a pair...true story

^^Don't be one of those nutbars dude. Seriously.
One look at your pics and I can tell you the quality of work done at that dealership sucks balls. Leaving the take off parts in a heap on the floor. Leaving the antifreeze in the cylinders. I would have zero confidence in any repair they did. That's not how you work on the internals of any engine. If that was my motor I surely would have lost it. But I wouldn't go picket the place. Edit. And if they do replace your motor, first go and mark your existing engine. I wouldn't put it past them to have GM force them to replace it and them just up and lying to you and GM telling you they did.

That was not caused by engine timing, that was caused by a valve timing issue. You state that the cam was replaced. TDC and a cam degree wheel were not used at all. Looking at one of the shots you took, looks like the cylinder wall was scuffed up too. Take your pics to a GOOD machine shop, and see what they say, and get it in writing. If they did, or do replace the slugs, they had better do a cylinder hone on the block also, since they should replace the rings. I have never used an old set of rings on new pistons. If the antifreeze in the cylinders has sat there awhile, it will cause pitting on the walls, leading to failure way before it should. The lifter bores should also be inspected. I think someone else mentioned the lifters, and the rockers should be done.
