Glad to hear you had a good time! My first time ever on a road course was with this car back in January on NJMP's Thunderbolt track and I have to admit that it was probably the most fun I've had in a car period. I hope to get back out there a couple more times and up to Limerock over the summer and test out the setup we've been talking about.

60-80mph around corners....wow.... that's what I do on the Highway ramps and yes... it is fun, but only when there is no one in front of you. Advantage...track!

Road course is awesome! I don't have a ZL1, I own a lightly modded SS. And I can tell you the ZL1 is at home on a road course. Here is video of me chasing down a Red ZL1. After I mishifted on the main straight @2:41 I let him pass and tried to reel him in. Didn't happen lol in all fairness he was a more experienced driver in a faster car. But had fun trying to catch him.

Glad to hear a straight liner enjoyed a road course. I went once and I am hooked. Been back 6 or 7 times now. With Ted's 470 rough idle blower cam kit and some modest suspension mods, I can hunt down a ZL1 on the straights but have to work a bit harder in the corners. Just love the track and its all about you getting faster, not racing the exotics. Try an HPDE event and you will not regret it. Just replace your lame stock brake fluid and get a good helmet.

I'm planning to go to VIR and get some lessons first, I was also informed that getting track insurance for your car is a good idea as well. This is one of the main reasons I bought this car, i've always wanted to go to the track.

I took a performance driving course at Mid-Ohio (in their Acura), then tracked the ZL-1 there on June 10th. No mods except RotoFab and the Z was way too fast for the BRZ/FRSs, S-2000s, Miatas, Mazda 3s, Porsches, etc. in the Novice group that I elected to drive in. What a great car on a road course! Mid-Ohio challenges even the best drivers, but the ZL-1 works really good there. There's no way you could have that much fun on a quarter mile strip.

Glad to hear you are participating in this kind of events! I am doing 60-80 mph and also 120mph on some curves! Best thing about is that the car woke up with the JRE tune!

Driving VIR is definitely a track that I am going to drive next year. I have heard nothing but good things about this track. I just have to make sure it is not snowing. Nothing is better than powering your ZL1 out of a perfect curve and feeling it thrust you up the hill. Not too many Florida track with hills though.

Yup, lots of fun, and lots of money. About $500-$600 per track day including wear/tear on pads, rotors, tires, gas money, and admission price. I am on my 4th set of tires with 11,000 miles on the car.

I love hearing about how much fun these guys are having at the road courses.

Personally, I think I'd have to take my slow 99 first to learn what I'm doing, as well as my relatively limited income would rather replace 245/45/17s and garbage pads on my GT vs the equipment on my Shelby.

By the way, I love the way the ZL1 looks when its ever so slightly squatting under throttle around a sharp corner, stance looks great.

ARD Owen's 750hp 900torque stock engined ZL1 loves the road courses! and even autocross.

Owen Tearing stuff up at Texas2K13 at Texas World Speedway.

My DUSKSS is also being setup more for road/autocross as well with full Pedders Pace Car package is going on very soon and then more power!

So Ted did you use paddle shifting or just let the auto do it all? Curious how well the auto did on track. If I ever get a ZL1 it will have to be an auto so the wife could drive her too.
