I'm betting the groove where the light pipe sits is where you should sand. You may want to PM 2SSRS@Gen5DIY and ask him to be sure.

when he answers (if in PM) post it here so I can do the same thing.

If it needs sanding it is where you said, its the V Chanel that the pipe sits in, if your not happy with the power of the blue color you may want to try the red, PM or call me.

Oh I'm going to switch to red but first I wanted to have the process down and since Nemex needed the help and was doing the same mod (with blue instead of red/orange) I wanted to help him get all the info he needed.

Its the groove where the light comes through like the others have said. For whatever reason, gm did not tape off to prevent overspray when they painted the panels. It wont take much to rub the paint off, so start off slow, so you do not take off paint in an area where you do not want light coming through.

That was the conclusion I came to when I had my door panel off to check for a rattle in my door from the bass from the stereo.

I installed the 2nd led at the other end of the light pipe and removed the black tape. I had to put the door panels on before i could sand them.

The brightness of the ABLs on picture one is accurate but on the picture two the camera went a little haywire on the brightness adjustment.

I'm a little confused. Why did you have to put them back on before sanding?

The door panels are painted from the backside....help me out a little to understand here.

I think they look good as is now. How are the lights with the second LED's? I would like to get a ZL1 door inserts & ABL set up for my new 1SS.

The second LED doesn't light up the panel too much does it, where it starts showing through the black paint a lot?

Yup...dusk edition has the light part slightly painted to give it a "different" look. I hate how dim it is. I will be sanding off the paint sometime soon.

Update on this....I took panel off, and low and behold, no paint to sand on panel. To the op, did the second abl light added make a difference? My abl is so dull on my dusk.
