small experiment request

Hey guys,

noticed something weird and I'm wondering if you guys can help me verify this (or not). I sent my stock radiator to Ron Davis about a year ago to them to build me a custom radiator for the beast and thats when I noticed that both fans on the fan shroud actually had different blades, in other words they were different fans and I haven't ever seen this before.

A few days ago I was checking if both fans were working put my hand behind the driver side fan and yes its blowing, did the same for the passenger side fan and no nothing, pointed my flashlight at the fan yes it was working. Then while going to bed I remembered the design of the vent on the ZL1 hood and wondered if one fan is actually a pusher fan in this case the passenger side fan.

Not sure this even makes any sense, but I'm hoping you guys can try to feel both fans and see if you come up with the same conclusion perhaps?

Thanks.

hmm....very curious
So your saying the leading edge of one fan is on the right and the other fans leading edge on the left?
Are the fans spinning the same direction

based on this pic if they're spinning the same direction they should both be puller fans, but why are the blades different? Also I need to examine the fans a little closer. Now the fan could be spinning in the opposite direction, I dunno.

I just know that I felt almost or maybe absolutely no air coming out of the passenger side fan even though it was spinning quite fast.

If your fans are between radiator and engine, then they are pullers. (It is very possibly your other fan was wired backwards by accident)

One other item.... most likely (typically) one of the fans is associated with your A/C unit and is on under AC-ON operation....the other by thermostat control. One fan should always come on when your A/C is on.

no one ever touched the wiring its a click-on connector as well so you can't install it the other way around either.

anyways, look at the vents in the hood they aren't symmetrical either not sure if that suggests anything?

Since you have a ZL1 why don't you fire it up and try out what I asked for?

Thanks.

What Kaamacat said. Makes more since and most cars work this way. Blade difference may be base on amount of air that fan needs to pull.

thats what I've been thinking for the past year, I hope we leave common sense out of this because not EVERYthing makes sense until you understand why, so I'm asking again for those who have a ZL1 can you please do the test and leave all the speculation aside? lol

I only have factory fans but both look like the large blade fan on the right side of your pic. both spin the same direction but the one on the right comes on with the engine and the driver side one comes on when I turn on the a/c

Maybe what is happening is that only the drivers side fan is calling to run and is pulling in air through the back side of the passenger side fan making it spin backwards.
