Ok. So engine is done. Time to get going moving.
Ok. It's finally back in the garage and ready to set in the car.
10.1:1 compression ratio and some added volume. Bigger motor now. (exactly one cubic inch) Honed the scratches out of the walls. hahaha Bigger cam than was in it before and forged pistons and rods for more boost. Along with the lower compression it should be really nice and safe for good power. So I'll be starting the build this coming weekend. Fist question is should I paint it? I want to paint it orange and black like the car but not sure how it would look. My plan is to swap out the fuel pump with a ZL1 pump and use my existing BAP as well. I don't think the ADM pump or others like it are necessary. Power should be around 750 to 800 BHP so I''ll see how it goes. Ordering some 'Fast 85# Fuel Injectors' but got some shaky reviews. Any opinions on that I welcome as well. Last edited by PQ; 06-25-2014 at 05:00 PM. |

im running fast 85lb injectors and have no issues. Had them for almost 2 years. Id recommend finding out which injectors your turner likes unless you can tune yourself. Nice trap door, mines is set up the same way. easy access!

You might want to rethink your FP needs. I thought the ZL1 pump dropped off around 600-650whp. With goals of 700-800whp, you'd be MUCH better served with a squash return system. That way you'll have plenty for your current goals and still plenty for WHEN you up swap to a better FI setup.

Awesome build you have there, I'd like to see it when I head back to Alabama for the winter.

The Squash system is good to 1200+whp and is about the same price as the ADM unit. You might want to make a post in the FI section to see if there are any other good recommendations. I'd just hate to see you blow up another engine because you skimped on the fuel. Squash

This motor will not see 750+ RWHP unless I were to seriously turn the shit out of this 2300 Maggie. I'm hoping that the ZL1 pump will do that. I'll find out with a few softer runs at first and work the way up. If not then I'll have to do something like the Squash pump. I might just dial it down and put a big pulley up front and call it good for a while since I already bought this one. |

Anyone have any knowledge on powdercoating?
Going to have a client of ours powdercoat the engine. Either shine up the aluminum real good and clear it or just go with an orange to go with the colors of the car. Then do a bunch of black and keep the mostly black but some orange cues theme. Supposedly it is a heat friendly coating. |

Probably not your cup of tea but a simple Chevy orange engine, silver valve covers would look cool. In my opinion your car is already cool looking, a classic look to the engine will enhance the overall look of the car.

I just don't want it to look stupid. I will not be making the engine bay a full show worthy thing. Just want to add some neatness while I have the engine out. Here is a sample I found in Google Images..... I like it and the black blower and some chrome valve covers will make it look good. |
