Ghost of Tom Joad - So Many Versions
I really like this one Bruce Springsteen & Tom Morello - The Ghost of Tom Joad (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 2009):
But I always love the Rage Against the Machine version best:

Rage Against The Machine has the best version. I also like their version of Maggie's Farm.

Not very familiar with that song other than the Rage version. That said, Tom Joad is still one of my favourites off of Renegades. Their MC5 cover stands out in my mind on that disc too.
And since this seems to have turned towards a RATM thread ... I just saw The Matrix on TV last night & I was reminded of how 'Wake Up' was nearly perfect for that movie. Its not the first time I noticed, but its been quite a few years since I've given it much thought. And I realized that the entire Rage album could have almost doubled as a soundtrack for the movie. Take the Power Back, Settle For Nothing, Wake Up, Freedom, Killing in the Name of ... it all fits pretty well with the themes of the movie. And of course .... the album (and band) is Rage Against The Machine -which is kinda what Neo & the people of Zion are all about.
