If he has HP Tuners he can see a lot more with the scanner than Torque.

Ok, I think I can get by without all the special tools except the EN-48266 Injector seal installer and sizer. You have to have it to get the new Teflon seal on without damaging it, and you have to size it back down to the original size after its on the injector. That tool is around $120.00 it seems.

My options are either:

A. 1 injector- $86.87
Seal kit for 3 injectors- $59.98
Seal installer tool- $120.00
TOTAL- $266.85

or

B. 3 new injectors w/ seals already installed- $86.87 x 3
TOTAL- $260.61

What to do.... one way I would have the special tool for the future, the other way I don't have to mess with the delicate seals and have 2 extra injectors and be 6 bucks cheaper.

Gretchen said he might have some lfx injectors he could give me so that's always an option too but my car is stuck at the shop and its taking up a bay, and don't like pushing it in and out everyday.

It would be good to have the tool but since joining this forum in 2010. I haven't heard of a injector messing up or being maxed out on a V6 as of yet. But I sure haven't read every thread on this forum neither 😂

Finally...twin turbos for my LFX

I've read of an injector related issue on the v6 specific camaro forum.this is only the second injector problem I've read of

You can't just buy 1 new injector with the seal installed?

I can, but the other injectors on that rail need to be sealed. Plus I might have to pull the other rail to get this one out, I don't know yet. I tried pulling the injector but didn't have much time today. I got the rail and injectors loose but the assembly doesn't want to come out. The other rail is in the way. Ill see tomorrow.

Maybe you could get by without replacing the seals I don't know. But alldata says once its pulled, the Teflon seal has to be replaced. If it was a regular injector I wouldn't worry about it but since its in the combustion chamber I definitely don't want leaks.

And on top of all that... Ive been talking with Brian and two different injector shops about cleaning these injectors(which nobody seems to be able to do yet on these DI injectors) and they seem to think the BG top engine clean chemicals I used to clean the injectors through the rail might be the reason for the failure. They say it's not good for these injectors and think I might have problems with the rest of them.. everything was fine until I went into boost and needed more fuel. There's no way to know for sure what the cause was.. the bg top engine clean(which I did at 15k and 30k) or just a flawed injector from the factory or a batch of flawed injectors..

Saw this today too while I was poking around on identifix, hopefully MagnumForce is right and the little bit of oil in my spark plug tube is getting in through the seal and not this! Hopefully either way it won't continue with the crankcase vented. I doubt I would have had a misfire until the oil started touching the coil.. I see that ALL the time on ford 5.4's

That makes sense, I don't know what I was thinking there, have to pull the rail off of all 3 obviously. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

My boost controller finally showed up today! I thought it was lost in the mail. I ordered off Amazon Dec. 20th. It shipped on Dec. 22nd with 2 day shipping and never showed. Was in the process of getting a refund so I could order from somewhere else and low and behold it showed up today. Stupid USPS... Now I have everything I need to finish this project up. Just need to get some time to reinstall all these injectors and intake.
