I just got mine today…(RGB) I do not think the install could be any easier…I'm not sure why anyone would have trouble.

Although I did not have that much silicone on the end. Mine looks much more finished. I would not be too happy with the way that one looks.

BTW, I ordered mine with the interior dome light on 2/9/15 arrived 2/24/15…I guess I lucked out...

My primary concern is with the condition of the product. I have wanted one since they day I first saw them online. I ordered one well over a year ago only to learn that they were discontinued. Then I ordered this new and improved scanner 6 weeks ago only to be disappointed when it finally arrived. I know that Oracle is a better company than that, so I was shocked. I'm glad to hear that yours was acceptable.

As for the installation, I'm sure the installation is a piece of cake. I was merely speaking of my shock at seeing the size of the connector that must pass through the fascia compared to the connector that is shown in the installation video. I have not attempted to install this, partly due to its condition and partly due to the weather. Since I have not removed the existing insert to see what's behind it and only know what was shown in the video, perhaps you can explain how this inch-long connector passes through the fascia and connects to the control box.

Attempted to install mine today, but the remote doesn't seem to be working with the scanner. The scanner immediately comes on once the power and ground are wired, and the scanner "glows". But I can't turn the scanner off, change patterns, change speed, etc.. Not happy.

Just checking but did you remove the battery insulator from the remote?

Battery insulator? I took out the battery to look at it and everything, but there was no insulation there or anything that I've seen.

Sorry, when mine came in the mail there was a plastic tab or insulator that had to be removed to allow the battery to make contact. But from your other post it appears your light bar may be defective. Hope Oracle can help get it exchanged for you.

I drove to the local Oracle shop here and bought one not too long ago and have problems with my remote as well. Sometimes I have to be right up on it to make it work and even then it is hit or miss. I really thought it would have functioned much better than it does.

I've spent well over 2 hours playing with it now, hasn't worked once for me. I've tried essentially every single angle and distance possible with the remote, and the scanner hasn't responded to it once. I've had the remote literally touching the receiver and it still doesn't work. I've gotta take it out and return it for either a fix or a replacement. Hopefully expedited shipping is possible because I really don't feel like waiting for 2 weeks to get it back.

Thanks, I got it wired yesterday and it works just like I wanted. Curious about folks leaving it wired to the constant on lead at the fuse box..., shouldn't you be adding a fuse? Seems a little risky not having any protection in the event of a short. At least tapping into the lights is fuse protected.

Ive been wanting one of these for a long time.....but with the xchange, fees, taxes and shipping the price more than doubled....now that I hear of these problems I am extremely happy I didn't order but am still disappointed I don't have one.....x border shipping is a rip off for us Canadians.

How often do the batteries for the remote have to be replaced? Mine just stopped working and I hope it's just the battery.
